What you will be doing:
Product Development
- Lead the design and development of innovative consumable devices that facilitate assay workflows and interface with users and instruments. Assess tradeoffs between design options holistically.
- Utilize CAD software to create detailed 3D models and engineering drawings of consumable devices. Perform tolerance analyses to inform critical design aspects.
- Oversee the creation of prototypes using 3D printing, CNC machining, or other rapid prototyping techniques. Evaluate prototypes for form, fit, and function, and iterate on designs based on feedback and testing results.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product transfer and assay development teams early in the design process to ensure that product designs are optimized for manufacturability and usability.
Functional Evaluation
- Develop and execute comprehensive test plans to evaluate the functional performance of consumable devices; analyze test data, identify potential issues, and implement design modifications to address any deficiencies; build and verify new tools for measuring functional performance.
- Determine functional limits for design specifications and develop statistics-driven QC methods
- Perform detailed failure analysis on products that do not meet performance requirements and take corrective actions.
Project Management
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely completion; develop project plans, timelines, and resource requirements.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and test reports.
- Communicate project status, risks, and issues to stakeholders and senior management.
Mentorship and Leadership
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and team members.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment.
- Lead technical reviews and design reviews, providing constructive feedback and recommendations.
To be successful, you will need:
- BS/MS/Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Plastics Engineering Technology, or a related field. MS is preferred.
- 7+ years (Bachelors degree) or 5+ years (Masters degree) or 3+ years (Ph.D.) of industry experience in developing and sustaining consumable devices in the life sciences industry.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks and GD&T.
- Strong understanding of materials and product design methodologies.
- Broad experience in metrology techniques and test platform development.
- Experience with designing consumables for manufacturing by injection molding or over-molding
Below is the base pay range for this full-time position. The actual base pay will depend on several factors unique to each candidate, including one’s skills, qualifications, and experience. At 10x, base pay is also just one component of the Company’s total compensation package. This role is also eligible for 10x’s equity grants, its comprehensive health and retirement benefit programs, and its annual bonus program or sales incentive program.
