Who We Need & What You'll Do 

The Associate Producer, Live Broadcast Internship for AccuWeather will be supporting live broadcasts for the national, award-winning AccuWeather Television Network on a daily and as-needed schedule. The Associate Producer, Live Broadcast will work with a team of producers, on-air broadcasters and video editors to develop innovative and engaging content. 

This entry-level Internship that will work at AccuWeather’s Headquarters in State College, Pennsylvania.

Internship Responsibilities 

  • Work with Senior Producers and Producers to deliver a unique style for the AccuWeather Television Network and ensure a cohesive cross-platform editorial voice. 
  • Participate, with Senior Producers, in all aspects of the daily show production process, including development of rundowns, researching segments, story selection, graphics generation and headline writing. 
  • Working knowledge of newsroom systems, ie Ross Inception. 
  • Respond quickly to breaking news and weather situations, contributing to the news team's coverage. 
  • Assist in researching and locating information for show guests.  
  • Assist Senior Producers on production of long-form programming. 
  • Exercise strong editorial judgment and adhere to company’s standards and practices. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications 

  • Entrepreneurial spirit with creative thinking is necessary in this role. 
  • Enrolled in an accredited institution and working towards BA or BS in journalism, communications or meteorology from an accredited institution. 
  • Knowledge and some experience in broadcast-style writing. 
  • Must be a team player to work well with production staff and other departments. 
  • Working knowledge of Windows or Mac operating systems is required. 
  • Regular and predictable attendance is required for this role. 
  • Excellent written, verbal, and time management skills are necessary; communication is essential to success.
