Role Overview:
We are looking for a Head of Legal to help build, manage, and lead the legal team at Aeva. This person will oversee all legal and compliance activities across the business, from corporate governance to IP to negotiating complex business and commercial agreements. This hire will have the opportunity to build the legal department, scale the team, and develop processes and infrastructure while reducing reliance on outside counsel.
What you'll be doing:
Advising the CEO on a variety of legal and business issuesDevelop and implement the mission for the legal department and set our legal strategy around the product, corporate, regulatory, and commercial opportunitiesPartnering with the executives, sales, and business operations teams to manage risk and implement strategies related to agreements, commercial, etcPartner with the internal Human Resource department around employment law and employment relation mattersLead on behalf of legal to ensure compliance with federal securities laws and regulations, including preparation and filing of Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, proxy statements, and other SEC filings and reportsCoordinate and oversee relationships with external counsel and legal advisorsWhat you have:
10+ years of combined professional legal experience at both a top-tier law firm and in-house head of counsel experienceExpertise in drafting and negotiating complex commercial business and supply agreements with a focus on hardware products and software featuresExperience working on public company corporate security matters such as SEC filings, corporate governance, and complex transactionsExperience managing other attorneys in a growing legal departmentHigh standard of ethics along with the ability to act with discretion, strict confidentiality, and sensitivity towards issues and individualsExcellent communicator with the ability to explain your processes, logic, and decisionsAdmittance to the bar in the state of California and in good standing or otherwise authorized to practice law (e.g., have registered in-house status)Nice to have:
