ABOUT THE ROLE
The Health Collaborative Manager is a strategic and results-oriented leader who will play a critical role in driving the success of ALU's Health Program. This role involves overseeing program implementation, managing partnerships, and ensuring alignment with the overall goals of the African Higher Education Health Collaborative. The Manager will collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders, including the Mastercard Foundation, collaborative partners, and ALU teams, to deliver impactful programs that address critical healthcare challenges in Africa.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Program Strategy and Implementation:
- Draft, recommend and implement program strategies that align with the goals of the African Higher Education Health Collaborative and ALU's strategic priorities.
- Lead the planning and execution of health-related programs, ensuring effective project management and timely delivery of initiatives.
- Monitor program performance, track key metrics, and evaluate outcomes to ensure alignment with objectives and identify areas for improvement.
Partnership Management:
- Identify, engage, and manage relationships with key stakeholders in the Healthcare Collaborative, including ALU teams.
- Foster collaborative partnerships to leverage expertise, resources, and networks to enhance program effectiveness.
- Build and nurture strong relationships with the Mastercard Foundation and other key stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and alignment on program goals and progress.
Stakeholder and Partnership Engagement
- Lead the coordination of program initiatives, working closely with ALU teams to ensure seamless execution and effective collaboration.
- Facilitate communication and information sharing between internal and external stakeholders, ensuring transparency and alignment on program activities.
- Represent ALU in discussions with the Mastercard Foundation, collaborative partners, and the Collaborative Secretariat at the University of Toronto, contributing to strategic planning and problem-solving.
Program Monitoring and Reporting:
- Develop and implement a system for monitoring program progress and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Generate timely reports on program activities, outcomes, and challenges, ensuring compliance with internal and external reporting requirements.
- Communicate program updates and insights to the Executive Director Healthcare, Steering Committee, and relevant stakeholders.
Financial Management:
- Collaborate with the Executive Director Healthcare to develop project budgets and ensure responsible financial management.
- Monitor program expenditures, track budget variances, and ensure compliance with financial guidelines.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of financial reporting systems and processes.
Operational Excellence:
- Contribute to the conception, procurement, implementation, and operation of a health data and innovation hub at the ALU campus.
- Identify and implement operational improvements to enhance program efficiency and effectiveness.

REQUIREMENTS
- Master's degree in Public Health, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
- 6+ years of experience in program management, with a focus on healthcare programs or initiatives.
- Proven track record of successfully managing complex programs with budgets exceeding $5 million USD.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels, including government agencies, regulatory bodies, and businesses.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver program mandates within time, scope, budget, and quality standards.
- Experience in stakeholder engagement, partnership development, and communication management.
- Strong understanding of the African healthcare landscape and challenges.
