ABOUT THE TEAM

The Technology Team aims to respond to all technical issues on campus in a timely and efficient manner. Working together with the Tech team is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the computer fields and to develop many skills, including, but not limited to these skills:

ABOUT THE ROLE

The ALU Tech Team is looking for Tech Support work-study interns for the ALU Rwanda/ALC Mauritius campus to help with all technical issues and to take the lead in resolving Level 1 technical issues on campus and in student residences. For network, hardware, and software issues, the point person will provide direct technical assistance and support to ALU Rwanda/ALC Mauritius students and staff members. This internship will provide participants with work experience as well as the opportunity to gain real-world hands-on experience and knowledge of an organization's technical operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Office & classroom check of tech materials/equipment.
  • Verification of the residence internet and student devices based on tickets raised
  • Follow up with point person regarding campus tech equipment safety
  • Support on-campus events/sessions
  • Devices troubleshooting and fixes
  • Printers quick fixes and troubleshooting and supplier contacts
  • In-person support to students and staff members
  • Manage and update users’ queries as well as inventory system

Ensure the safety and well-being of all young persons and vulnerable adults with whom we deal,  by adhering to ALU’s comprehensive safeguarding policy, maintaining a zero-tolerance approach to any violations of safeguarding standards. 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of six months paid or volunteer work experience with computer desktop support in a networked environment for a small to mid-sized organization
  • A basic understanding of computer network cabling and network file and print services
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

Also Note:

1. This is not a remote job and the intern should be familiar with AV equipment
2. Soft skills like word processing, Operating system like Windows, Mac Os and Linux are a must
3. Training will be provided

Location: Mauritius

Commitment: 40 hours

Internship Duration: 2 months
