The Opportunity:
The Head of Tax is a crucial member of the finance leadership team with full responsibility for the tax function. This role has a strong focus on international tax management, including payments, tax audits, designing and executing tax planning strategies.
The successful candidate will provide effective tax advice on multiple new products & business models. They will form solid working relationships with the wider finance team and other key functions at Agoda such as Legal and Product. They will act as a business partner, ensuring that the tax function is seen as proactive, adding value by understanding the business drivers, objectives and goals, thereby contributing to maximize the company performance wherever possible. The Head of Tax will bring a forward-thinking approach, implementing best practices to develop a market-leading and best-in-class tax department with the most up-to-date and robust processes and procedures in line with but not limited to regulations in the digital area. They will possess technical knowledge on transfer pricing, indirect tax, permanent establishment issues and data reporting requirements.
In terms of scope, the individual will have oversight of Agoda’s full business and complete legal entity structure, including multiple countries across North America, EMEA and APAC.
In this Role, you’ll get to:

- Develop a deep understanding of Agoda’s business, as well as existing and potential regulatory issues
- Design and implement tax planning strategies
- Obtain great structural efficiencies
- Manage income tax risks globally
- Turn the Tax area into a competitive advantage for Agoda while remaining compliant with tax laws, company policies and core values
- Ensure that documentation and monitoring controls are in place for the organization and for the entire scope of tax
You will also ensure that Agoda’s business model is accurately reflected in contracts. You will be accountable for developing a best-in-class tax organization and practices. You will ensure that all external international requirements are met, while relevant internal reporting and metrics are in place to enable insights into the business and support decision-making.
What you’ll Need to Succeed:
Experience and knowledge
- Well-rounded multi-disciplinary Tax experience >15 years
- Operational in-house tax experience
- Team management >10 people
- International tax management experience
- Deep understanding of international and regional tax regulations as well as compliance and filing procedures
- Exposure to Accounting and Risks and Controls matters
- Experience in an agile environment, handling multiple priorities simultaneously
- Technologically literate and up-to-date on latest digital industry innovations
