The Opportunity:
We are looking for a talented, results-oriented Senior Finance & Tax Project Manager to join our growing Project Management Office - New Business Initiatives team. You will have the opportunity to drive the implementation of tax and new business initiative projects and contribute to the overall tax compliance requirements of the organization by partnering with Tax team, various commercial teams, Product, Tech/IT, Legal, Customer Experience, Marketing and Finance users, including cross brands projects across the broader sister companies and group.
This position involves coordinating technical tax projects related to Agoda’s new business verticals, new ventures, compliance, regulatory, and organizational changes. In this role you will mainly be collaborating with Tax team to ensure various Tax projects are implemented efficiently and effectively to comply with regulations. This may include but is not limited to support various tax registrations including compliance in terms of tax reporting, invoicing, and supporting other changes in laws or systems that impact tax compliance.
You are expected to have strong presence and provide your point of view clearly and convincingly to stakeholders. You must be comfortable working independently, dealing with ambiguity, be organized and possess effective interpersonal skills to successfully partner with cross functional teams. Your ability to influence, communicate and drive change for the business will be critical.
In this Role, you’ll get to:
- Lead and manage tax projects and business plans from finance perspective by partnering with Tax and Product teams.
- Perform analysis of tax implications and utilize analysis to support tax technical and business decisions.
- Analyze complex ideas or proposals and build a range of meaningful recommendations.
- Use multiple sources of information including broader stakeholder views to develop solutions and recommendations.
- Simplify complex messages, highlighting and summarizing key points.
- Preparation and review of audit and compliance documents pertaining to indirect tax.
- Manage project and implement various company-wide strategic initiatives as well as Finance internal projects from Finance perspective
- Think through the implications to various finance functions (accounting, tax, operations, treasury, commercial, financial systems, risk & control etc.) and drive all the work streams to complete deliverables in line with commitments.
- Gather requirements from Finance and collaborate with different departments to optimize on the processes and workflows. Make key decisions such as shifting priorities, feature change requests.
- Identify opportunities to eliminate or standardize activities and automate where possible – make finance and related processes as simple and effective as possible (keeping internal customer in mind).
- Ensure constant communication and calibration between project teams and other stakeholders at regular intervals
- Represent finance on a cross-functional integration team internal and external with strong influence to ensure that they incorporate finance requirements into the product development.
- Ensure timely progress and achievement of project milestones and goals by coordinating different workstreams, identifying risks, troubleshooting, and proposing mitigation plans.
- Assist with UAT testing, collaborate with finance users, tech and Product.
- Ensure that the projects will go live smoothly, and any post-launch issues will be resolved promptly.
What you’ll Need to Succeed:
- 5+ years project management experience in taxations (is a plus) of tech industry, e-commerce for strategy initiatives, finance operational, business analysis with a proven track record of driving transformational initiatives through successful execution.
- Extensive stakeholder management experience and ability to influence stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or other university degree specialization accompanied with professional accounting qualification.
- Experience working in finance cross-functions (accounting, tax, operations, treasury, FP&A, financial systems, etc.)
- Experience working with non-Finance stakeholders such as Commercial team, Legal, Product, Tech/IT, Customer Experience Group, Marketing
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, multicultural, and high intensity environment.
- Flexible and resilient personality that adapts well to and is energized by change.
- Comfortable working with uncertainty and experimentation in a high-velocity environment
- Ability to work on technical projects with Product Management and Tech Team
- Highly numerate with strong analytical and problem solving, influencing and change management skills. Ability to think out of the box and make judgement calls.
- Attention to details, self-motivating with continuous improvement mindset. High learning agility. Ability to ask the right questions to ensure speed and accuracy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational and planning skills with solid interpersonal skills
- High level of dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation. Strong business acumen.
