We are seeking an Engineering Manager to lead our HyperDB team, and partner with cross-functional peers to deliver the necessary solutions for our largest customers to operationalize all of their data. HyperDB was officially released at the end of last year.

What you'll do

  • Lead, manage, and grow a team of high-functioning engineers that are building HyperDB, Airtable’s system for storing and operationalizing massive amounts of data.
  • Partner with engineering leaders to drive technical decisions and initiatives to build products in a high-quality and sustainable way. 
  • Nurture a team of passionate and capable engineers. Partner with senior engineers to multiply their impact, and coach & grow early-career engineers.
  • Partner with cross-functional peers including product management and design to come up with and execute against short and long term strategy and plans for the team.
  • Implement processes to help the team scale and be productive, while allowing for agility to accommodate the dynamic environment that we operate in.

Who you are

  • 5+ years experience as an engineer and 2+ years as a manager, or a similar combination. You are experienced with navigating large scale, technical systems.
  • Experience leading high performing engineering teams in a fast paced environment
  • Experience in growing and mentoring engineers.
  • Experience in managing, organizing, and prioritizing multiple projects and work streams.
  • Strong customer focus. Experience working closely with Product Managers to define products, manage tradeoffs, and drive adoption with customers.

Compensation awarded to successful candidates will vary based on their work location, relevant skills, and experience.

For work locations in the San Francisco Bay Area, Seattle, New York City, and Los Angeles, the base salary range for this role is:
$240,000$339,900 USD
