Art Directors play essential roles in the strategy, conception and design of beautiful ideas, products and services. They bring exceptional creative thought and they craft output, developing and delivering projects from the brief to end user.

As an Art Director at AKQA, you’ll conceive and develop ideas that solve important client problems. By thinking beyond briefs and imagining approaches our clients may not have asked for – or even thought possible – you’ll be helping to build AKQA’s reputation for work that is both ground-breaking and influential.

AKQA Tokyo in particular aims to strengthen the organization and create a better future for the brand, aspiring to be Japan's premier creative agency. We are eagerly seeking companions to take on such challenges together.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

  • Possess not just exceptional art direction skills, but the ability to implement strategic and conceptual thinking as well.
  • Collaborate with copywriters, strategists, UX/visual designers and technologists to develop innovative and persuasive concepts.
  • Drive the development of creative ideas for new business pitches and other important agency initiatives.
  • Leads by example to inspire colleagues to originate pioneering ideas that deliver successful solutions.
  • Be accountable for the project design deliverables and manage the quality of all design deliverables to ensure they meet AKQA standards for creative excellence.
  • Embrace challenges and inspire new ways of thinking.

  • Exceptional communication skills that enable you to articulate the ‘why’ behind your concepts.

  • You are passionate, driven and obsessed about your craft and stay on top of best practice in your field.
  • Natural curiosity that allows you to find inspiration in anything and everything, with an especially keen eye on the future of media and technology.
  • Strong industry experience.
  • Relevant tertiary education.
