The Associate Creative Director (copywriter) at AKQA will approach every brief with fresh eyes. Avoiding familiar solutions, the ACD will create and inspire work that is distinctive, effective and truly remarkable. As ACD, you are a versatile leader, seamlessly transitioning between strategic thinking, team management, and hands-on execution across all media platforms. You will work in an environment which fosters a meritocratic culture and encourages ownership, and you will be surrounded by some of the brightest minds in their fields.  

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create ground-breaking ideas, creative campaigns and brand platforms that positively impact our clients, our teams and the world. 
  • Build strong relationships with our clients and lead them on the journey towards brave, challenging work.
  • Work closely with the strategy teams to shape briefs that empower our teams to deliver work that pushes our client's brands to the forefront of their audience's minds.
  • Collaborate closely with team members from other departments and disciplines (strategy, data, experience design, tech, …) to create work that goes beyond industry standards and status quo.
  • Lead and mentor young, talented and hungry creatives in delivering innovative, impactful work.
  • Foster and line-manage creatives that are eager to grow their craft in copywriting and concepting.
  • Lead, direct and manage cross-disciplinary teams, both internal and external to AKQA to ensure that the end result achieves the high ambitions expected of AKQA from our clients.
  • Have a robust understanding on how new technologies can further our client's quest for their audience's attention.

 

QUALITIES & CHARACTERISTICS

  • Have a compelling portfolio of globally recognised brand and campaign work that had an impact on the client's business and that highlights mastery in copy creation and profound abilities in concept development.
  • Possesses excellent writing skills in German and English, with fluency in both languages being an advantage.
  • Have strong leadership skills and enjoys mentoring and fostering growth of junior team members.
  • Lead by example, actively participating in every step of the process, from brainstorming strategic direction to finalising the copy.
  • Capable of balancing multiple projects while effectively distributing tasks.
  • Have outstanding written and oral communication skills, interpersonal and interdepartmental.
  • Have exceptional presentation skills, and experience in presenting to C-suite clients.
  • Be fearless, have an infinite reserve of creativity, and be relentlessly attentive to detail.
  • Have experience working on large-scale global projects.
