Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Sr Cloud Engineering FinOps Lead to join our dynamic team. As an integral member of our organization, you will play a key role in optimizing our cloud financial operations for our global cloud solutions providing market leading Pricing AI to retailers around the world.  You will help ensure cost efficiency and drive financial accountability within our engineering teams. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of cloud technologies, financial management principles, and engineering workflows.  At Revionics we are focused on implementing advanced cloud-native technologies and practices while driving the continuous delivery posture of the organization.  Your role will bring innovation, leadership, and FinOps best practices to drive cost visibility, decision making, and accountability.

Your role

As the Sr Cloud Engineering FinOps Lead, you’ll own global cloud financial operations. You’ll work closely with engineering leadership, finance, and individual engineering teams to optimize our cloud financial operations, ensure cost efficiency, and drive financial accountability of our services and features.  This position reports directly to the SVP of Cloud Operations and will be based in our India office.  Our ideal candidate is a self-starter and has excellent communication skills. Our collaborative environment relies heavily on innovation, technical savvy, and problem-solving skills.  You will be a major contributor to the company’s success, providing technical leadership, coordination, communication, training, cost visibility and optimization, and more.

What you’ll do

  • Cost Optimization:
    • Collaborate with engineering teams to analyze cloud usage patterns, identify cost drivers, and implement strategies to optimize expenses.
    • Utilize FinOps best practices to continuously monitor and manage cloud costs, ensuring maximum efficiency without compromising performance.
    • Create and maintain dashboards and reports to provide visibility into cloud spending and cost optimization efforts.
  • Financial Governance:
    • Develop and enforce financial governance policies and procedures to maintain budget adherence and cost control.
    • Establish clear reporting mechanisms to track and communicate budget variances, cost trends, and savings opportunities.
  • Collaboration with Engineering Teams:
    • Work closely with engineering teams to understand project requirements, provide financial guidance, and influence decisions that impact cost-effectiveness.
    • Foster a culture of cost awareness and accountability among engineering teams.
  • Forecasting and Budgeting:
    • Assist in the development of accurate and comprehensive financial forecasts and budgets for engineering projects.
    • Provide regular updates on actual spending versus budgeted amounts, offering insights into any discrepancies.
  • Tooling and Automation:
    • Evaluate and implement FinOps tools to automate cost management processes, streamline reporting, and enhance visibility into cloud expenses.

Skills you’ll bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in FinOps, cloud financial management, or a related role within an engineering environment.
  • Strong understanding of cloud platforms (GCP preferred, or similar) and their pricing models.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficient in using FinOps tools and related technologies including SQL, data models, data pipelines, reporting, and cloud platforms and services.

Bonus Skills

  • FinOps Foundation experience or certification.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Terraform.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and principles.
  • Previous experience in a fast-paced, agile environment.
