The Role
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Team Lead for the Robot Hardware Engineering Group.  
 
The Electronics Engineering Lead will manage a team of Engineers and Technologists to develop mobile robots for a novel automated warehouse solution.  This leader will hold design authority over all aspects of electronics development, overseeing the specification, design, modification, and validation activities of the PCB, electro-mechanical and electrical components developed by the team. This is an opportunity to work in a fast-paced multidisciplinary environment, as part of a highly motivated team, in an exciting new industry. 

Who you are

  • 10+ years in hardware design roles, demonstrating increasing levels of responsibility and leadership 
  • 2+ years leading/managing technical design teams and projects, promoting a high-performance culture of growth and technical excellence 
  • Strong technical background of problem solving a commercial product in a multi-disciplinary environment comprised of Electrical, Mechanical, and/or Embedded Engineering 
  • Hands on expertise with servo drives, stepper motors and electro-mechanical systems 
  • Solid understanding of kW-level DC power electronics, including circuit board design, protection and layout 
  • Experience in designing to and obtaining certifications for the global market as dictated by safety and EMC standards (IEC 62368-1, CSA C22.2, IEC/EN 61000, etc.) 
  • Knowledge and experience working with industrial communication protocols such as CANbus, Ethernet,EtherCAT, SPI, I2C, RMII, etc. 
  • Experience with microprocessors, monitoring, and sensing circuits. Familiarity with STM32 and dsPIC families is a benefit.  
  • Experience with the Altium Designer and Altium 365 
  • Familiarity with the definition of engineering technical specifications based on product requirements 
  • Experience with wire harness design and manufacturing 
  • Professional Engineer/Technologistin good standing as recognized by APEGA/ASET 
  • What we need

  • Lead and contribute at every step of the design cycle for the analog, digital, and power electronics assemblies of the robotic shuttle. 
  • Lead and mentor the electronics team, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and growth 
  • Champion and coach on best practices, establishing strong processes for highquality.  
  • Employ Agile (sprint, Kanban) tools and practices to manage team workflow and deployments 
  • Collaborate with product management to advise on technology direction and distillroadmaps into actionable project work. 
  • Work with certification agencies to ensure electronics meet all regulatory requirements 
  • Provide detailed review of work products created by other Electronics Engineers. 
  • Coordinate with internal Purchasing staff and external PCB manufacturers and vendors.  
  • Drive sustaining activities through an Engineering Change process 
  • Diagnose root cause of product failures and develop corrective actions
