In this role, you will
- Create test and inspection plans based on program plans, product requirements and specifications.
- Coordinate calibration of data acquisition, inspection and testing equipment, maintaining records and certificates.
- Coordinate the design of and/or design custom inspection and/or test fixtures and sensors for quality control.
- Direct and manage all non-conforming product(s) and return material authorization activities (Material Review Board).
- Support inspection and testing activities to ensure continuous compliance of products to specifications.
- Closely collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to develop manufacturing test requirements, quality standards, and product quality plans to ensure products will meet requirements.
- Support the development of FMEAs to identify critical risks in design and manufacturing, and drive action to mitigate risks with cross-functional teams.
- Develop, validate, and rollout critical quality controls across production lines, in coordination with engineering and manufacturing teams.
- Lead and support the qualification of new production lines and processes by utilizing FMEAs, control plans, capability analysis, MSAs, DOEs, etc. in alignment with automotive APQP and PPAP requirements and activities.
- Work with internal and external suppliers to establish requirements and ensure product quality.
- Identify supplier quality risks, issues and problems, and coordinate with supply chain teams to drive corrective actions at the supplier level.
- Investigate and resolves product complaints and quality problems in the field and in the process.
- Uses lean tools, statistical techniques and analytical methods to achieve effective problem solving, root cause discovery and corrective action (8D Problem Solving, 5-Why).
- Track quality performance metrics, prioritize top issues, and drive continuous improvement activities with cross-functional teams.
- Work on continuous improvement of quality processes and procedures.
- Assist with the development of quality objectives complimentary to organization objectives.
- Provide technical support to all manufacturing areas, locations, and customers as needed.
- Provide technical expertise and mentorship to junior-level engineers and technicians.
- Lead and participate in initiatives to support Business and Quality objectives.
- Travel, on occasion, to company locations in the continental U.S.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or related fields; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5+ years in automotive manufacturing, electro-mechanical assembly operations, robotics or equivalent field experience.
- Excellent data analysis skills, using simulation/modeling tools
- Excellent written and verbal communication of status and results, including writing formal reports
- Ability to interpret regulations and test procedures.
- Ability to operate and use diagnostic scan tools, scopes, meters, and other test equipment.
- Ability to read design/wiring schematics and operate data acquisition systems for data collection.
- Understanding of test equipment maintenance, calibration, upgrades and improvements (mechanical, electrical or software-based) required to optimize resource up-time.
- Investigates, debugs, and resolves quality inspection or test problems in the manufacturing process and assists with failure analysis and/or root cause analysis, as required.
- Excellent analytical abilities, technical writing ability and comprehensive understanding of the quality toolbox (SPC, 8D root cause analysis, tolerancing, control and inspection standards, etc.).
- Knowledge of Continuous Improvement, Kaizen, 5S, Six Sigma Process, APQP, PPAP, DFMEA, PFMEA.
- Experience with Google Sheets, Docs, Slides and Gmail.
- Experienced in ISO-9001.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experienced in IATF 16949, ISO 26262.
- Experience with Linux operating systems.
- Minitab or other statistical software capabilities.
- Experience programming and scripting (C++, Python or equivalent).
- Experience with Jira.
The base salary range for this position is $135,000 - $216,000 per year. Aurora’s pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, the successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future. The successful candidate will also be eligible for an annual bonus, equity compensation, and benefits.
