In this role, you will
- Work as a R&D Technician building Aurora’s self-driving technology - this Includes vehicle build, sub-assembly, lite fabrication, routing harnesses, vehicle tear down
- Candidates must possess excellent documentation practices
- Work closely with Hardware Engineering and associated teams
- Follow safety standards and meet internal deadlines
- Work with limited oversight. Respect, and integrity
- Seek continuing education and development opportunities
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of direct experience in automotive, trucking, or prototyping spaces
- Must possess excellent communication skills
- Deep knowledge of automotive and trucking systems, tooling, and mechanical assemblies
- Strong mechanical skills, ability to read schematics and layouts, and assemble mechanical systems
- Ability to problem-solve, diagnose, analyze and isolate problems
- Proficiency with Windows, Mac, or Linux
- Able to work independently and in a team environment
- A can-do customer service attitude with the ability to multitask under pressure in an unstructured environment
- Operate in a high paced R&D, Rapid Prototyping environment
- Contribute to the overall team's success providing support in other areas of the R&D shops, i.e. electrical, fabrication, manufacturing, etc.
- Work with the R&D manager to continually review and improve shop practices and efficiencies
- Maintain and repair equipment as necessary, implement upgrades
- Familiar with CAD software, SolidWorks and/or Catia preferred
- Able to read and comprehend engineered drawings
- Design parts/fixtures to aid in fabrication
- Document fixtures, designs, processes created in the machine shop to archive for later use
Desirable Qualifications
- Certification and training in GD&T
- Experience with Jira, Confluence, ERP, PLM, CAD, and various other software tools
- Experience with Instrumentation (i.e. thermal test set ups, fluid dynamics, air pressure, load cells, etc.)
The base hourly wage range for this position is $36.50-$54.75 per hour. Aurora’s pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, the successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future. The successful candidate will also be eligible for an annual bonus, equity compensation, and benefits.
