We’re searching for a Staff Vehicle Cleaning System Lead to join Aurora’s Hardware Vehicle Integration team. The Vehicle Integration Team is responsible for designing the integration of our internally developed hardware onto various vehicle platforms.
In this role, you will
- Work within the Hardware Product Engineering group, specifically the Vehicle Integration Team, integrating autonomous vehicle hardware on OEM vehicle platforms
- Function as the Technical Lead for cleaning system supply from vehicle platforms
- Develop architectures and designs for sensor cleaning systems on autonomous vehicles
- Develop vehicle platform requirements for autonomous sensor cleaning systems, collaborating cross-functionally with hardware systems and OEM partners
- Design CAD assemblies integrating COTs and custom-developed cleaning fluid (air & liquid) components, in various zones of a vehicle
- Adapt sensor cleaning components and assemblies to multiple vehicle types (cars, trucks) understanding the platform specific requirements
- Deliver well engineered 3D and 2D CAD packages to internal and external vendors for fabrication and assembly
- Track all details of projects including requirements, BOMs, mass roll-ups, and schedules
- Collaborate closely with electrical harnessing team to ensure proper routing and clipping
- Develop 1D physics models of fluid systems comparing different variable and architectures
- Maintain a solid understanding of various part design and manufacturing methods (machining, injection molding, sheet metal, forming, casting)
- Develop tests at the component, bench, and vehicle level to validate cleaning performance and requirements verification.
- Engage with R&D technicians to test prototype hardware on system benches and vehicles
- Collaborate cross-functionally with embedded firmware and software on cleaning system functionality and testing.
- Develop new workflows and processes in order to expand the depth and breadth of the teams capabilities
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor, Master, or Doctorate degree in Mechanical Engineer, Aerospace, or related.
- Ability to own projects and sub-systems as an independent self starter
- Strong technical documentation and communication of technical information
- Strong fluid system design and test experience
- Detailed CAD knowledge with Catia/3DX, SolidWorks, Creo, NX, or comparable CAD tools
- Intuitive knowledge of part design, material selection, and manufacturing processes
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience with engineering in the automotive or autonomous vehicle industry
- 1D modeling experience for fluid systems (matlab, simulink, python)
- Test engineering (design, sensing, data processing)
- Catia/3DX proficiency
- Requirements generation (Jama, Doors)
The base salary range for this position is $163,000-$261,000 per year. Aurora’s pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, the successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future. The successful candidate will also be eligible for an annual bonus, equity compensation, and benefits.
