Your Job:
 
As Packaging Engineer, Asia, you will be responsible for the end-to-end management of the packaging process for Brooks footwear and apparel. This role ensures packaging and labeling materials are production-ready and support the successful delivery of our products to our customers through multiple distribution channels. Additionally, you will collaborate with internal teams and vendors to ensure seamless packaging project execution. You will also play a key role in ensuring packaging complies with country-specific requirements and optimize transportation for inbound and outbound freight.
The ideal candidate will possess a background in footwear and apparel packaging design and requirements.
This position will be based in Vietnam, with frequent travel to our production bases and vendors in Asia. Our working language is English though proficiency in foreign languages is a plus.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Packaging Development: Collaborate with Product Developers, Product Engineering and Creative team to create packaging materials that meet design briefs and fulfill cross-functional business requirements. Attend key milestone product meetings to ensure we have the right packaging solution aligned with the product's needs and business goals.
  • Sample & Prototype Management: Organize, track, and manage the flow of packaging/labeling samples and prototypes to ensure timely and accurate delivery.
  • Packaging Trials Validation & Production Troubleshooting: Manage trials to validate packaging materials, addressing any issues that arise during production. Identify any challenges and document processes, issues, and work with Sourcing Manager, to implement solutions to ensure smooth operations and continuous improvement in packaging production.
  • System & Data Integrity: Maintain accurate data in FlexPLM and other relevant systems, ensuring all packaging details are up-to-date and accessible to stakeholders.
  • Collaborative Accuracy: Work closely with cross-functional team to ensure all packaging and labeling materials are accurate and meet business and regulatory requirements.
  • Global Compliance: Partner with Trade Compliance to ensure packaging meets the specific requirements for entry into new countries, ensuring legal and market-specific labeling standards are met.
  • Other Projects: Support special projects related to container optimization and RFID to improve inbound and outbound freight efficiency, enable effective inventory management, ensuring cost-effective and sustainable packaging solutions. 
  • Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Packaging engineering, Material sciences or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in packaging management, product development, or related fields in the footwear, apparel, or consumer goods industries.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of packaging materials, production processes, and labeling requirements. Experience with FlexPLM or similar PLM systems is preferred.
  • Project Management: Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met and stakeholders are aligned.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Demonstrated ability to work effectively with internal teams (design, development, operations, supply chain) and external vendors to execute packaging projects successfully.
  • Global Market Knowledge: Experience navigating country-specific regulatory requirements and packaging standards.
  • Detail-Oriented: Excellent attention to detail, with a strong focus on data integrity and accuracy in product labeling and packaging materials.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to managing challenges related to packaging and labeling.
