What’s so great about working in Calendly’s Platform organization? You’ll play a crucial role in shaping our platform’s security and integrity by leading both Identity & Access Management (IAM) and Trust & Safety initiatives. You'll design, develop, and maintain IAM services that empower our engineering teams while ensuring scalability, resiliency, and performance. Simultaneously, you'll oversee our Trust & Safety efforts, tackling fraud prevention, abuse mitigation, and compliance through automated, real-time threat detection and response. Your technical expertise and leadership will directly influence platform architecture and engineering best practices, driving the success of our products.

A day in the life of a Senior Engineering Manager, IAM and Trust & Safety at Calendly
As a Senior Engineering Manager at Calendly, you have the chance to mentor and grow some of the best and brightest engineers in the world. In this role, you will be overseeing the evolution of Calendly’s architecture from a monolithic codebase into high availability services. This role will also be working on building out the foundational APIs and capabilities that enable our entire engineering team to innovate quickly. This means working closely with product focused engineering teams to understand their needs, and also deep diving into our data services to discover new capabilities and insights that provide value to our users.

On a typical day, you will be working on:
- People Leadership: Recruit, manage, and mentor a diverse team of IAM and Trust & Safety engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Technical Leadership: Provide hands-on mentorship, guidance, and decision-making to help engineering teams deliver effective, high-quality solutions
- Planning & Execution: Own and drive execution on critical initiatives, ensuring timely, high-quality outcomes while promoting incremental delivery and impact
- Vision & Strategy: Define and evolve our IAM capabilities to meet future demands while shaping the Trust & Safety roadmap in alignment with company priorities and emerging threats
- Operational Excellence: Design and implement scalable systems to detect, prevent, and respond to fraud and abuse, leveraging key metrics to measure effectiveness
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Product, Design, Engineering, Legal, and Compliance teams to embed Trust & Safety considerations throughout the development lifecycle
- Architectural Design: Shape technical strategy and North Star Architecture while guiding the design and implementation of key services and components
What do we need from you?
- 5+ years experience as a people leader within a platform engineering organization
- Domain expertise with customer-facing Identity & Access Management (IAM) & Trust & Safety
- Specifically authentication, authorization, and security
- Proven experience in Trust & Safety, fraud prevention, abuse mitigation
- Experience navigating complex legal and regulatory landscapes
- Strong technical acumen, with a deep understanding of detection and prevention systems, machine learning applications, and scalable platform solutions
- Deep understanding of distributed systems and cloud computing
- Experience building, operating, and maintaining high-traffic, high-availability platforms and systems
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex systems to identify root causes and implement effective mitigations and resolutions
- Demonstrated ability to drive innovation and propose new solutions or improvements that align with organizational goals
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Strong collaborative skills and the ability to work effectively within a team, including remote and distributed teams
- Proven leadership capabilities with experience mentoring and guiding engineering teams
- Ability to adapt to new technologies, changing requirements, and evolving organizational needs
- Availability for participation in on-call rotation, ensuring prompt and effective responses to business-critical alerts outside of regular working hours

The ranges listed below are the expected annual base salary for this role, subject to change.
Calendly takes a number of factors into consideration when determining an employee’s starting salary, including relevant experience, relevant skills sets, interview performance, location/metropolitan area, and internal pay equity.
Base salary is just one component of Calendly’s total rewards package. All full-time (30 hours/week) employees are also eligible for our Quarterly Corporate Bonus program (or Sales incentive), equity awards, and competitive benefits.
Calendly uses the zip code of an employee’s remote work location, or the onsite building location if hybrid, to determine which metropolitan pay range we use. Current geographic zones are as follows:
- Tier 1: San Francisco, CA, San Jose, CA, New York City, NY
- Tier 2: Chicago, IL, Austin, TX, Denver, CO, Boston, MA, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, PA, Portland, OR, Seattle, WA, Miami, FL, and all other cities in CA.
- Tier 3: All other locations not in Tier 1 or Tier 2
