About the Role
The Associate General Manager will be responsible for end to end ownership of scaling our quick commerce delivery business in Abu Dhabi. Abu Dhabi is our newest city to launch and is in its early days, and therefore the AGM will be responsible for overseeing and partnering with a high calibre team, the expansion and growth strategy, Grocery and Careem-level executive management, as well as the day to day operations for the business. We have deep ambition to be the market leader, and you will lead us there.
What you’ll do
- Manage Careem Grocery’s business within Abu Dhabi, owning the growth and scaling of the business in the city (including P&L ownership)
- Work with and develop team members who are dedicated to Abu Dhabi, as well as partnering cross-functionally with all of our team members and leaders who contribute to the city’s success
- Develop and execute a business plan to scale and gain market share for the business.
- Develop and sustain solid relationships with key local partners
- Be a key part of the Grocery leadership team responsible for the overall direction and growth of the business
What you’ll need
- Strong business acumen, with an ability to understand the different moving parts that drive a business.
- Previous startup experience - you’re comfortable leading through double-digit weekly growth rates, and get concerned when that is not happening
- Abu Dhabi expertise - you’ve spent time in the city and know how it ticks, and are very happy to be based there for this role
- P&L experience is a plus
- Excellent interpersonal and interpersonal skills. You will be the face of Careem Groceries in Abu Dhabi, to our executive stakeholders internal and external.
- Strong customer relationship skills, with the ability to develop and build profitable and successful working relationships.
- You are data-driven, highly goal oriented, have a strong bias for action, and are a hands-on problem solver.
