Our UX Research team is a central team supporting the superapp, rides, food, groceries, pay, loyalty and multiple other verticals within Careem. We operate on a customer-first mindset. This requires us to deeply understand the behaviors of the people that use our app. Since we are currently located in the Middle East region and cater to a vastly diverse audience from across the globe, it gives us a chance to understand the rich cultures, habits and attitudes of this population.

The UXR team is currently looking for a User Experience Researcher to join us. You should be intuitive, empathetic and curious. Your responsibilities will include conducting end-to-end user research in all aspects of our customer experience and working closely with strategic partners in technology and product teams independently. This is a great opportunity to bring to life our key initiatives across mobility, food delivery and payments as well as to  learn from some of the best UX experts in the industry.

What you'll do

As a UX Researcher at Careem, you’ll play a pivotal role in driving a user-first approach across our products and experiences. You’ll bring innovative research practices to the table, shaping and influencing product experiences throughout the entire product lifecycle.

Collaborating closely with product managers and design partners, you’ll apply design thinking methodologies to craft impactful, user-centered solutions. Using compelling storytelling techniques, you’ll communicate insights, educate teams and build deep user empathy across stakeholders, ensuring that the voices of our users are at the heart of every decision we make.

  • Partner closely with product and business teams to uncover key opportunities for research that drive impact
  • Be a champion for the people who use our products, advocating for their needs and shaping experiences that truly matter
  • Lead the design and execution of research projects end-to-end, leveraging a diverse range of methodologies to uncover actionable insights
  • Craft studies that explore both the "why" behind user behaviors and the "what" of their attitudes
  • Navigate ambiguity and thrive in a fast-paced environment by prioritising research plans, aligning stakeholders and delivering insights with speed and precision
  • Share findings in clear, engaging and innovative ways that inspire action and drive decision-making
  • Collaborate seamlessly with teams across design, product, content strategy engineering and marketing to create cohesive and meaningful experiences
  • Deliver insights that spark creativity and validate design decisions, driving user-centric innovation at every step
  • Work independently, with the autonomy to shape your research approach while staying connected to Careem’s overarching purpose and values

What you'll need

  • Bachelor’s degree with 2+ years of relevant experience within user experience, applied research setting and/or product research and development
  • Demonstrated understanding of a range of research processes and methods: qualitative and quantitative, attitudinal and behavioral
  • Solid understanding of the product development lifecycle and how research can help at each stage
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and visual communication and storytelling skills; ability to distill complex ideas into concise and accurate narratives 
  • Interest in and experience executing hands-on, primary research
  • Experience translating research findings into strategic narratives

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with consumer products, consumer insights or product development
  • Degrees in a human behaviour related field, such as Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Sociology, Communication, Information Science, Media Studies, Computer Science or Economics
  • Fluent in English/Arabic or  English/Hindi/Urdu
