Role overview

The Product Marketing team at CarGurus is at the center of understanding our customers and their needs and pain points so that our Product team can develop products our customers love so much they tell friends about us. They work closely with nearly all internal Product and Marketing teams including Brand Marketing, Performance Marketing, and our Creative team. The Product Marketing Associate role is a unique opportunity for someone just entering the Marketing space to learn directly from the Senior Director of Product Marketing leader, with rotational assignments with Managers across both the Consumer and Dealer Product Marketing teams. This role will be responsible for working with Product Marketing Managers to understand our customers more deeply, develop insights to inform our strategy, ensure we take action on learnings, and develop messaging frameworks, product proof points, creative, sales collateral, and other marketing assets to effectively take our products to market and drive revenue with both dealers and consumers.

What you’ll do

  • Assist in developing, executing, analyzing and actioning customer research to develop deep understanding of needs and painpoints, and generate insights that inform product development.
  • Create product messaging and language to clearly communicate our value proposition to customers and prospects.
  • Develop creative briefs and work with our Creative team to develop and optimize creative that drives customer response. This could include Google, Meta and other ads, emails,  landing pages, testimonials, videos, etc.
  •
  • Develop internal communications and decks to train our Sales partners on new value propositions and customer messaging.
  • Help bring best practices in the US to our markets in the UK and Canada, and other CarGurus businesses.
  • Communicate with key business partners to drive transparency for our efforts, and to enable trusting and successful partnerships across teams.

What you’ll bring

  • Excellent business sense and curiosity, with an ability to internalize material quickly, learn from observing in meetings, ask insightful questions, and proactively research to establish a strong foundation for strategic understanding and future work.
  • Very strong written and verbal communication skills: a sophisticated writer skilled at crafting messages with concise, crisp, authentic language, and able to adapt tone and language based on brand guidelines.
  • Solid quantitative and analytic skills to be able to work with data.
  • Resourcefulness and a solution-oriented mindset.
  • A track record of leadership and success in academic or work settings.
  • An exceptional work ethic, and a clear sense of accountability to deliver top quality work.
  • Excitement to work in a fast-paced, low ego, team-oriented environment.
  • Interest in gaining experience working with different leaders across a range of marketing projects
  • Bachelors degree (writing-intensive and/or quantitative major preferred); with 0-2 years relevant work experience
