As a Field Engineer at CircleCI, you will be the customer’s trusted technical advisor throughout their entire relationship. You’ll provide hands-on support for cloud-based and single tenant deployment delivering product guidance with CircleCI’s largest customers. Serving as the lead advisor and owner of technical deal strategy, collaborating with Account Executives and Technical Success Managers to confirm customer business goals, deliver on needs, and ensure confidence that CircleCI can address their largest pains.
In addition to working on technical engagements, we're looking for someone that stays on top of industry news, including tech products, platform, our own features, and our partners, to maintain deep industry and ecosystem expertise. We’re the go-to partners and advisors, and we need someone that is solution oriented and biased towards action. Someone that can identify, advocate, & implement improvement in our sales & advisory service efforts. This could be high level strategy, daily tactical efforts, or down in the weeds of documentation or how to videos.
We are a highly collaborative team with a strong understanding of the developer community. Our team connects regularly with developers, DevOps leads, and Sr. leaders to provide first class partnership and strategic support. We work with Marketing and Product to host webinars, conferences and more.

Hybrid - Near Tokyo Mandatory - to travel to office for events etc, our team is in the office ~2 times a week
What you’ll do:
- Lead the technical implementation and day-to-day management of CircleCI Demonstrations and Trials, integrated into our customer’s technology stack - ensuring early customer success and a long-term business relationship
- Demonstrate and prove the technical feasibility of the CircleCI platform to highly technical and business audiences alike
- Build and launch of new applications and custom integrations to our internal teams and customer community
- Partner closely with our customer success teams to craft a continuously amazing customer experience - for life
- Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to help build product roadmaps based on market/customer requirements
- Provide technical responses to RFPs and RFIs
- Help customers setup CircleCI, both on circleci.com and in their own private cloud, including any custom setup they may need
- Partner with your Technical Success Manager to onboard and support our customers as well as act as the dedicated technical advisor
- Be creative in solving complex technical challenges and strategic customer goals
- Be the voice of the customer and use customer feedback to help our teams improve the product
What we're looking for:
- 2 to 15 years of experience as a solutions engineer, customer engineer, or DevOps engineer in the software delivery and CI/CD space
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills in English and Native/fluent Japanese language skills
- Outstanding presentation skills. You feel comfortable leading presentations and demos of our platform to groups, both technical and non-technical, in-person and virtually
- Ability to work with customers directly to debug common errors without involving an engineer
- Ability to tie business problems to technical solutions and understand technology value propositions, presenting clear value & impact
- You’ve built an applications in a high-level programming language, ideally inside an enterprise
- Experience with build, test, and deployment automation, ideally inside an enterprise
- Experience with popular web app frameworks and/or mobile app development (iOS, Android)
- Strong ops/infrastructure knowledge, especially networking and security
- Knowledge of Docker or Linux containers in general
- Experience using and automating a major IaaS like AWS, GCP, or Azure
- Familiarity deploying and debugging distributed systems
- Experience and/or certifications in SLDC/ITSM/ALM frameworks
- A strong belief that the best way for all to succeed is to honestly discuss product and company abilities and limitations with customers. We don't oversell at CircleCI
Bonus points:
- Ability to mentor other team members in developing their technical and presentation skills
- Proven experience in Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, Git, Artifact repos
- Hands-on experience building software pipelines with various DevSecOps tools
