LOCATION: This position is an onsite role, based in Indianapolis, Indiana at the Clif Bar Plant.
Mission: The Maintenance Manager works in concert with production management to mobilize and direct maintenance resources in maximizing production equipment performance to meet plant KPI's, including Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Sustainability, Engagement goals.
Responsibilities & Outcomes:
- Ensure personal safety, food safety, and quality protocols are followed.
- Responsible for completing job duties in a manner that demonstrates best personal safety practices, meets Safe Quality Foods program requirements, quality standards, and environmental practices.
- Lead and coordinate maintenance team area leaders to perform mechanical, electrical and controls troubleshooting, planned maintenance processes, process improvements and management of parts stores.
- Works closely with the facility management team to ensure that we have a robust maintenance program in place, including maintenance repairs & overall operations of key systems. Accountable to ensure adherence to business continuity plan, manufacturing standards government regulations are understood by all employees/services providers at the site, regularly reviewed and monitored for effective implementation.
- Create short and long-term plans to support the success of the bakery maintenance team.
- Ensure effective resolution of problems through root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions to prevent recurrence in collaboration with other bakery teams.
- Ensure that all manufacturing systems are maintained to maximize operating lifespan and effectiveness.
- Coordinate closely with bakery leaders to maintain an up-to-date understanding of needs and priorities.
- Represent all maintenance areas of responsibility at meetings and effectively delegate and coach group leaders.
- Support new product development and continuous improvement with maintenance department resources.
- Incorporate continuous improvement methods and proven maintenance strategies into daily operations.
- Create, track and publish relevant team key performance indicators.
- Manage personnel aspects of teams. Hire, coach, set goals, conduct performance reviews and handle disciplinary issues.
- Role model values and principles through effective coaching, mentoring and builds skills capability across the plant technical/engineering teams to engage with latest modern practices.
- Have a clear people succession and resource plan, for the asset & technology population, identifying and implementing critical levers to attract, retain and develop critical talent.
- Interface with key stakeholders internally and externally to develop and maintain effective relationships, align priorities in order to deliver the company objectives, and goal
- Work closely with the maintenance team to define key skills needed for teams to support utilization of bakery equipment successfully.
- Utilize computerized maintenance management systems (EAM) system to manage work.
- Maintain P&L responsibility over maintenance labor costs, parts, and supplies categories.
- Be flexible and able to work weekends and holidays.
- Provide on-call and after-hours support to maintenance area managers.
- Occasionally manage capital projects and provide direction to contractors and vendors.
- Perform all other related duties as requested.

- Bachelors degree preferred in the related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in plant and production equipment maintenance leadership including mechanical, electrical and controls systems. Experience in a food processing environment is strongly desired required.
- 5-10 years of experience in a supervisory department leadership capacity.
- Experience implementing maintenance processes including Preventative, Predictive and
- Lean/Six Sigma certification preferred.
