LOCATION: This position is an onsite role, based in Indianapolis, IN at the Clif Bar Plant.

The Sanitation Technician will focus on continuous improvement across all the sanitation systems at Clif Bar Baking Company. This position will ensure a high level of employee safety, food safety, as well as efficient product and line changeovers. The Sanitation Technician will ensure compliance with Clif Bar Baking Company standards and procedures for sanitation, government, and third party regulations. This position will also support and implement processes that meet the requirements of SQF.
Responsibilities & Outcomes:
- Ensure personal safety, food safety and quality protocols are followed.
- Ensure operators and staff are properly trained on chemical safety, use of sanitation equipment, and sanitation procedures.
- Assist in the development of Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs) for the bakery.
- Provide training and assessments on performing SSOPs.
- Technical lead in cleaning methodologies (foaming, sanitizing, etc.).
- Lead the root cause analysis for sanitation specific deficiencies.
- Assist in the coordination of sanitation staff activities and goals.
- Using continuous improvement tools, improve changeover efficiencies.
- Ensure accurate chemical and cleaning supply inventories.
- Assist the sanitation manager in the integrated pest management program.
- Ensure that master sanitation tasks are completed as scheduled and keep accurate records for it.
- Perform other related duties as requested.

- Understanding of manufacturing and sanitation requirements to meet personal safety, food safety, and quality standards.
- Experience with clean out of place (COP) systems.
- Knowledge of acid, alkali, and sanitizing chemicals.
- Knowledge of Safe Quality Foods (SQF) audit system.
- Experience performing sanitation activities in an organic food manufacturing environment preferred.
- Experience with or ability to operate riding/walk behind floor scrubber.
- Basic math skills including weights and measurements.
- Ability to follow detailed work instructions.
- Ability to work in team environment with skill to listen attentively, be inclusive and genuine with effective communication.
- Experience with Lock out Tag Out (LOTO).
- Basic mechanical skills, including using hand tools and disassembly and reassembly tasks.
