To help us nurture our Design practice and bring even more creative, strategic, and organizational talent into the team, we’re seeking an experienced Senior Design Manager.

In this position, you will report directly to the VP of Experience, and will be responsible for managing a small team of passionate product designers and you will also play a critical role in the transformation and evolution of our product design practice. You can work from our Berlin office, or remotely from Germany, UK, and Ireland.

What to Expect

As a Senior Manager, Design (f/m/d) at Contentful, you will:
  • Lead a team of 5 designers, setting the design vision and priorities for our B2B Enterprise Saas product across 2 product lines covering Content Platform and Enterprise admin experiences.
  • Translate strategic objectives into structured design processes, ensuring solutions meet measurable customer outcomes that you help shape and measure.
  • Partner with product management, engineering, and research teams to align on discovery, solutioning, delivery, measurement and iteration.
  • Guide research efforts by collaborating with the user research team to shape questions, support discovery, and synthesize insights into actionable opportunities.
  • Facilitate workshops and alignment sessions to clarify opportunities and unify cross-functional teams.
  • Balance your strategic leadership with your own hands-on contributions, such as creating user flows, system maps, and prototypes with your team (player/coach).
  • Model resilience and adaptability, fostering a culture that embraces change and thrives under evolving priorities.

What You Need to Be Successful

Experience:

  • Proven track record designing for enterprise customers, admin users, and platform-first SaaS products.
  • 8+ years in product design, including managing teams of designers.
  • B2B expertise in CMS, Martech, Personalisation or e-commerce product design.
  • Unifying and partnering with a wider global design leadership team to ensure consistency and shared product experience vision across the user journey.
Key Skills & Attributes:
  • A background in Computer Science and/or engineering is a distinct advantage.
  • Strong strategic UX thinking and problem-solving for complex, technical products.
  • Experience collaborating within triad teams of product management, engineering, and design.
  • Ability to partner effectively with user research teams to inform design strategies and discovery efforts.
  • Proficiency in design systems, interaction patterns, and accessibility best practices.
  • Exceptional communication, facilitation, and stakeholder alignment skills.
  • Resilient and adaptable leader who inspires trust, fosters collaboration with partners and stakeholders, and thrives in dynamic environments.
