About the role

In this role you will get opportunities to design and implement CI/CD systems and developer productivity solutions. You will be responsible for analyzing software engineering practices, identifying areas of improvement, and implementing changes to increase efficiency and effectiveness across the organization.

Bring your industry experience to improve the efficiency and scale of Dremio’s infrastructure via innovation on tooling and methodologies. You should have empathy for developers, passion for engineering productivity, and experience delivering scalable distributed systems.

What you’ll be doing

  • Solve problems for fellow Dremio engineers by understanding their needs and coming up with both short term workarounds and long term solutions
  • Build pipelines for software and  to increase developer productivity 
  • Comfortable navigating the fast moving, unstructured nature of a hyper-growth startup
  • Use both qualitative and quantitative metrics to determine priorities and measure effectiveness
  • Evaluate & apply the latest tools, techniques and research insights to drive improvements into a world-class data analytics engine
  • Own and automate local development workflows
  • Analyze performance bottlenecks, root cause issues, file defects, follow up with developers, documentation and other teams on the resolution
  • Responsible for keep the status of the development branches to green 
  • Regularly communicate leadership team with an assessment of the reliability, and robustness of systems 
  • Understand and reason about concurrency and parallelization to deliver scalability and performance in a multithreaded and distributed environment
  • Actively participate in code and design reviews to maintain exceptional quality and deepen your understanding of the system architecture and implementation

What we’re looking for

  • B.S. or M.S in Computer Science or in a related technical field
  • 6+ years of experience on large scale distributed systems
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience with at least one cloud platform (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Strong understanding of cloud networking and cloud architecture
  • Strong experience in any of Java/C++/Python/Go
  • Proficiency in Maven or similar build environments
  • Hands on experience in pipeline automation using CI/CD tools like Jenkins 
  • Experience in Infrastructure as Code
  • Experience with Terraform, BASH, Docker, Jenkins, and Kubernetes
  • Drive design decisions with the ability to derive meaningful insights from the collected data, and articulate findings effectively
  • Ability to create reusable components to automate repeatable, manual activities
  • Ability to write technical reports, effectively summarizing key data
  • Ability to present findings to across leadership and teams
  • Passion for learning and then delivering solutions using latest technologies
  • Strong affinity for collaboration and teamwork
  • Desire to work in a fast paced and agile development environment

 Bonus points if you have

  • Working knowledge in data lakes and data warehousing
  • Proficient with SQL

Return to Office Philosophy

Workplace Wednesdays - to break down silos, build relationships and improve cross-team communication. Lunch catering / meal credits provided in the office and local socials align to Workplace Wednesdays. In general, Dremio will remain a hybrid work environment. We will not be implementing a 100% (5 days a week) return to office policy for all roles.
