THE ROLE

An Associate role in the Structured Product Trading group is for a junior trader of vanilla & exotic commodity derivatives who has shown the ability to oversee daily transactions and processes to keep the desk operating with minimal supervision. The Associate should have an intermediate grasp of principles of risk management, quantitative pricing strategies, basic computer programming, and how to service clients in the commodity trading sector. An Associate must demonstrate the future potential to either generate revenue through business development (Sales-Trading) or master quantitative pricing, risk management, and applicable computer programming (Quantitative Trader). The Associate will receive extensive career development opportunities and be expected to attain a Lead Trader position within two to five years.

This is a hybrid role in Chicago. We have an office in the Fulton Market area. 

THE DUTIES

  • Hedge standard daily trade flows and execute brokerage transactions
  • Interface with clients to ensure client satisfaction and identify new growth opportunities
  • Run daily risk processes to calculate P&L and risk metrics
  • Maintain and improve codebase for automated desk processes
  • Reconcile product pricing, position statements, and valuations

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Intellectual curiosity
  • 2+ years of experience in structured product trading
  • Intermediate grasp of probability theory and statistical inference
  • Fluent in python and SQL (or similar)
  • Intermediate grasp of option risk management & greeks

The following represents FBN's reasonable estimate of the US national average base salary range for this role based on market data and placement of internal employees: $100,000-$125,000. This salary range may vary based on geography and the higher cost of labor in some metropolitan areas.
