Position Summary:

We are seeking a molecular biologist to support development of Quotient’s genotyping platform. The role involves the development of innovative next generation sequencing workflows and supporting assays. This role is based in the vicinity of Cambridge UK and will be primarily based on site.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be an active member of the Assay Development team, conducting bench-based experiments
  • Adapt and optimise cutting-edge Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) library preparation methods
  • Develop and run oligonucleotide assays to support NGS library prep optimisation
  • Optimise procedures for DNA isolation, quantification and quality assessment from different sample sources
  • Develop standard operating procedures for new versions of assays to enable smooth transfer of processes to Quotient’s pipeline
  • Contribute to the technical assessment of novel tools/methods to support Quotient’s overarching goals
  • Provide supervision and training for more junior lab members and/or technicians.
  • Maintain detailed records of results and communicate key findings to stakeholders across the company, both in written and presentation formats.
  • Collaborate closely with other team members across the organization.

Requirements:

  • BSc/MSc in molecular biology or a related field with 6+ years research experience or equivalent.
  • Understanding of NGS assay workflows with hands-on experience in NGS library preparation.
  • Experience in a range of molecular biology assays including PCR, qPCR, nucleic acid purification and quantification.
  • Experience with analysis of oligonucleotides, e.g. LC-MS
  • A high degree of energy and attention to detail, and a passion for problem-solving.
  • A desire to contribute to technologies that will enable the creation of transformative medicines for patients with serious diseases.
  • Candidates with experience in some of the following areas will be preferred: (a) Development or use of high-sensitivity molecular techniques and tools (b) Use of lab automation devices
