About the Position

Vesalius is seeking an experienced Director, Program and Alliance Management to play a vital role in the company’s efforts to support our external alliances and our internal innovative portfolio of drug discovery programs. The candidate will be responsible for providing strong leadership, organization, risk identification, tracking and mitigation and expertise to support cross-functional teams to execute on program deliverables required to meet the goals of the organization. The successful candidate will work closely with team members across Vesalius and external partners to rapidly advance programs. S/he will be comfortable working in and contributing to a highly dynamic and cross-functional team environment

Responsibilities

  • Provide high quality program management to support our partnerships and internal innovative portfolio of drug discovery programs.
  • Working closely with team leads to plan and drive team meetings, information flow and communication, identification, discussion and mitigation of opportunities and risks to program objectives, timelines and budget.
  • Possessing a comprehensive understanding of the drug discovery and clinical development process, this individual will support program teams’ key scientific questions, strategy and objectives into optimal cross-functional plans, timelines and budgets.
  • Proactively identify, track, actively help mitigate and appropriately communicate program risks.
  • Develop acceleration opportunities for various milestones, risk/benefit assessments, and risk mitigation plans.
  • Ensure all decisions made on the program are assessed as to their impact.
  • Work closely with Finance and the cross-functional program teams to establish program related budgets and resourcing plans. Is accountable to monitor plans and ensure programs have the required resources and budget.
  • Ensure efficient and effective communications of program related information to all levels of the organization.

Qualifications

  • BS/MS degree or higher in a scientific discipline, ideally life sciences or chemistry
  • 8-10 years relevant program management experience in biotech drug discovery and development, as well as a comprehensive understanding of drug discovery
  • PM experience with both preclinical and clinical stage programs
  • Experience managing partnered programs
  • Scientific curiosity and passion for discovering new, innovative medicines.
  • Proven track record in driving successful, collaborative drug discovery teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with time management/tracking, using timeline management programs (Smartsheet, ThinkCell, MS Project, etc.).
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic environment with a sense of urgency and creativity and focus on deliverables.
  • Team player with a strong work ethic, able to work both independently and collaboratively 
  • Continuously learns and adapts quickly to new information

  • PMP certification
