The Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Facility SCADA Engineer, preferably with experience in the life sciences industries.

As a key member of Lila’s Engineering team, you will be developing real-time automation solutions from the manufacturing plant floor to the enterprise level, using a variety of programming, configuration, and design tools: PLC and PAC Programming, Operator Interface and HMI application design, SCADA design, Network design, Database design, Vision system design, and more.

Key-skills and interests: machine and process control, information solutions, database development, operational efficiency, robotics, and machine learning.

Responsibilities include:

  • Driving system integrations and visualization of an AI Science Factory.
  • Engineering and implementing real-time automation controls and information solutions.
  • Conceptualizing during the design phase of the project life cycle.
  • Developing hardware to software integration from PLC controls (L1) up to SCADA (L2) and MES (L3) layers.
  • Leverage communication protocols like OPC-UA to ingest data from ancillary systems, such as Building Management System (BMS) or Environmental Monitoring System (EMS)
  • Creating visual dashboards and reports with a focus on high quality UX/UI
  • System programming, debugging, and testing of all engineering solutions.
  • Creating documentation, including project engineering notes, project proposals, project design traceability documentation, user requirement specifications, and more.
  • Commissioning new solutions; finding opportunities for improvements.
  • Learning new technologies.
  • Mentoring colleagues on your expertise and knowledge base.

Technologies Used:

  • PLC Programming Platforms: Beckhoff, Siemens, Schneider Electric, Distech, CODESYS, etc.
  • HMI Platforms: TwinCAT HMI, Ignition Perspective, EcoStruxure, etc.
  • SCADA Platforms: Inductive Automation, Eclypse, Optic, etc.
  • System Networking: Ethernet, Routing and Switching, EthernetIP, EtherCAT.
  • Communication Protocols: MQTT, BACnet, Modbus, OPC-UA, DeviceNet, APIs, etc.
  • Vision Platforms: Cognex, Datalogic, Keyence, etc.
  • Experience with Python, Historian (PI System), and databases is a plus
  • Project Documentation: Notion, Microsoft Office

Qualifications:

  • Successful or upcoming completion of B.Sc. Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related Engineering Technology degree.
  • Academic or working experience with some or all the listed “Technologies Used”, in previous section.
  • Meticulous, conscientious, analytical, focused, self-starter individual, who is a quick learner.
  • Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written.
