Position Summary:
AbCheck s.r.o. (Ampersand Biomedicines, Inc.) is looking for a highly motivated, goal-driven and collaborative lab manager to join our dynamic team. This is a unique opportunity to help drive the development of a rapidly growing early-stage science and technology company within a well-resourced environment. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in advancing our research and development efforts. The candidate will report to senior leadership and will enjoy working in a pioneering and fast-paced start-up environment. This is a full-time on-site, laboratory-based position in Plzeň, Czech Republic.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the inventory of general materials and reagents, ensuring adequate supplies are maintained to support research activities. Prepare documentation for the ordering department to facilitate timely procurement of necessary items.
- Regularly assess the status of laboratory devices and equipment to ensure optimal functioning. Coordinate and schedule routine maintenance, calibration, and validation of instruments, addressing any service needs promptly.
- Implement and oversee protocols for the safe disposal of biohazard and toxic waste.
- Organize outgoing shipments and participate in storage and documentation of incoming material, including proper documentation.
- Update and train staff on safety protocols and ensure the laboratory is prepared for any inspections or audits.
- Collaborate with research associates, scientists and management in the planning and design of new laboratory spaces.
- Organize and lead laboratory meetings with research associates to discuss plans, updates, and newly established standards or policies.
- Point of contact for IT maintenance.
- Foster transparent communication within the team to ensure alignment with laboratory goals.
- Contribute to building a positive, team-oriented culture.
Key Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant scientific field such as Biology, Chemistry, or a related laboratory science.
- Previous experience in laboratory management or a related role is highly preferable.
- Thorough knowledge of safety rules, environmental regulations, standards, and legal requirements.
- Demonstrated excellent organizational skills to effectively manage tasks and prioritize work efficiently.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with team members, management, and vendors.
- Hands-on experience with laboratory procedures, such as pipetting, solution preparation, and mammalian cell culture maintenance, along with meticulous documentation of experimental results, is highly preferred.
- Basic understanding of IT infrastructure.
- Attention to detail combined with strong problem-solving capabilities.
- Experience in developing and maintaining compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies.
- A proactive approach to identifying opportunities for process improvements and enhancing cost efficiency.
- Ability to adapt to language requirements in an international team; proficiency in writing and documenting in English is essential.
