Lila is backed by Flagship Pioneering, which brings the courage, long-term vision, and resources needed to realize unreasonable results. Join our mission-driven team and contribute to the future of science.

At Lila, we are uniquely cross-functional and collaborative. We are actively reimagining the way teams work together and communicate. Therefore, we seek individuals with an inclusive mindset and a diversity of thought. Our teams thrive in unstructured and creative environments. All voices are heard because we know that experience comes in many forms, skills are transferable, and passion goes a long way.

If this sounds like an environment you’d love to work in, even if you only have some of the experience listed below, please apply.

The Role:

This role is tailor-made for a systems-minded HR professional who can design and implement with intention. As the People Systems & Projects Specialist at Lila, you’ll lead cross-functional initiatives that create structure without rigidity, clarity without control. Whether it's standing up a new HRIS, refining performance and compensation processes, or creating tools that help teams thrive, you’ll be the go-to architect and project driver for people-focused operations.

This is a P3-level role, ideal for someone who’s grown within the People function and is now ready to take on broader ownership, impact, and complexity.

What You’ll Do:

🔧 Systems Implementation & Optimization

  • Lead the implementation of HR technology systems (HRIS, ATS, L&D platforms, etc.), from selection through rollout and support.
  • Partner with stakeholders across HR, Finance, Legal, and IT to ensure system integrations support a seamless employee and manager experience.
  • Translate organizational needs into workflows, automations, and digital tools that scale elegantly.

📐 Project & Program Management

  • Scope and drive HR projects end-to-end—whether building a compensation review process or refining onboarding experiences.
  • Manage timelines, dependencies, and communications across cross-functional teams.
  • Identify risks and remove roadblocks early, keeping momentum without sacrificing quality.

🧠 Process Architecture

  • Reimagine and optimize core People processes (e.g., performance reviews, promotions, offboarding) to be more intuitive, inclusive, and data-informed.
  • Standardize what needs consistency, customize what requires nuance.
  • Keep documentation crystal-clear for others to understand and adopt.

📊 People Data & Reporting

  • Ensure data hygiene and accuracy across HR systems.
  • Design reporting dashboards to empower decision-making at every level—from executives to hiring managers.
  • Partner with People leadership to surface key metrics and insights.

🤝 Culture & Collaboration

  • Work alongside HRBPs, Talent, and Operations to embed equity, empathy, and resonance into our infrastructure.
  • Make sure our systems support a culture of belonging, not bureaucracy.
  • Represent the People team in cross-functional conversations with clarity and confidence.

What You Bring:

✅ Experience & Impact

  • You’ve had success in a people-focused role—whether that’s HR Business Partnering, People Ops, Talent Management, or similar. Maybe you built out onboarding from scratch at a startup, or drove change inside a large matrixed org. We care more about how you think and build than where you’ve done it.

🎓 Education or Equivalency

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in HR, Business, Psychology, or a related field. We welcome those who’ve taken unconventional paths—bootcamps, certifications, military experience, or self-taught systems gurus are all encouraged to apply.

🧠 HR Knowledge

  • Strong grasp of core HR topics like employee relations, performance, organizational design, and compliance. You stay current on trends, and are eager to explore new frontiers—like AI-powered HR tools, flexible work design, or skills-based org models.

📈 Analytical & AI-First Mindset

  • You're confident using data to drive decisions. While no coding is needed, you're curious about AI and technology, and excited to experiment with tools that elevate the employee experience.

🌍 Inclusive Approach

  • You're passionate about equity and belonging. Whether you led a DEI project, supported nontraditional candidates, or simply create space for others to shine, your track record shows a commitment to building teams where everyone can thrive.

💬 Communication & Influence

  • Clear, adaptable communicator. You listen well, write cleanly, and can translate between technical and non-technical audiences. You build trust quickly and know how to collaborate across disciplines, cultures, and geographies.

🧩 Strategic Problem Solving

  • You love a complex challenge. You see both the forest and the trees—zooming out to spot patterns, zooming in to fix what’s broken. You're solutions-oriented, empathetic, and driven to make systems more human.

🔄 Adaptability

  • You’re comfortable in ambiguity and excited by change. Lila is growing fast—and you’re ready to learn, stretch, and wear a few hats along the way.

Why Join Us?

  • Opportunity to be part of a mission-driven company making a real difference.
  • Supportive, innovative work environment that values continuous learning.
  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • Professional development opportunities to help you grow with us.
