Summary:

Lila Sciences is seeking a seasoned Procurement Specialist/Manager to join our team. This role involves overseeing the procurement process to ensure timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services in the life and physical sciences sectors. This person will be instrumental in building and maintaining strong vendor relationships, negotiating contracts, and providing support to the R&D and lab operations teams. Reporting to Finance, the successful candidate will collaborate closely with the Lab Operations Manager to ensure materials and supplies are procured efficiently and align with project goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the supplier identification and due diligence process to meet R&D needs.
  • Assist operations team with goods receiving and tagging to ensure accurate PO fulfillment.
  • Develop and sustain robust relationships with suppliers to ensure high-quality, cost-effective procurement.
  • Negotiate favorable terms and contracts to enhance supply chain effectiveness.
  • Assess and select suppliers based on quality, reliability, pricing, and compliance.
  • Oversee the purchase order process from initiation to completion, ensuring accuracy and budget adherence.
  • Monitor fulfillment and delivery schedules to avoid delays and disruptions.
  • Conduct product and service cost analyses to identify savings and optimize procurement strategies.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, industry regulations, and ethical sourcing standards.
  • Collaborate with R&D scientists and various teams to support project requirements.
  • Manage inventory levels and implement strategies to streamline the supply chain and reduce lead times.
  • Cultivate long-term strategic partnerships with key vendors for future growth.
  • Facilitate decision-making in Buy vs. Lease and Make vs. Buy scenarios.

 

Qualifications:

  • Significant experience in procurement, supply chain management, or purchasing within the life or physical sciences sector.
  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to secure advantageous terms.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills for effective vendor management.
  • In-depth understanding of procurement processes, contract structures, inventory management, and cost analysis.
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance in scientific industries.
  • Proficiency with Jira, LIMS, and procurement software tools.
