Ampersand Biomedicines’ Pilsen Team (AbCheck s.r.o), a Flagship Pioneering Company, discovers and optimizes human therapeutic antibodies with one of the industry’s most versatile technology platforms. Tailored to specific needs and desired Target Product Profiles, the experienced team leverages both cutting-edge (e.g., microfluidics, rabbit mass humanization) and state-of-the-art (e.g., phage display libraries) technologies to provide high quality leads against a range of diverse targets.

Position Summary:

AbCheck s.r.o. (Ampersand Biomedicines, Inc.) is looking for a highly motivated, goal-driven and collaborative Research Associate to join our dynamic Microfluidics team. This is a unique opportunity to help drive the development of a rapidly growing early-stage science and technology company within a well-resourced environment. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in advancing our research and development efforts. The candidate will report to an experienced Scientist in the Microfluidic department and will enjoy working in a pioneering and fast-paced start-up environment. This is a full-time on-site, laboratory-based position in Plzeň, Czech Republic.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute experiments using an advanced microfluidic platform to support research objectives.
  • Operate droplet generation and sorting instruments with precision to ensure accurate data collection.
  • Process primary cells and diverse cell lines for experimental workflows.
  • Produce and perform quality control assessments of polymer chips used in droplet preparation and sorting.
  • Collaborate effectively with the supervising scientists and team members to achieve project milestones.
  • Conduct and document experiments following detailed protocols and standard operating procedures; actively contribute to laboratory maintenance and equipment care to ensure a well-functioning workspace.
  • Contribute to building a positive, team-oriented culture.

Key Qualifications:

  • Biological/medical assistant or Ba or MSc in biology, biochemistry, engineering or related field.
  • Hands-on experience with laboratory work (e.g., pipetting, solution preparation, mammalian cell culture maintenance) and documentation of experimental results
  • Previous experience with microfluidic systems is an advantage.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, good organizational skills, and strength in problem-solving.
  • Attitude and enthusiasm towards learning new techniques, improving upon existing processes, and understanding and explaining the “why” behind experimental protocols.
  • Sense of responsibility regarding experimental work, the team and the mission of Ampersand.
  • Adaptivity to language requirements. Our team is international, written documents like experimental protocols and records are in English language.
