Position Summary

We are looking for an innovative, experienced, and development minded Senior Scientist in Protein Bioconjugation to join our dynamic team and execute on research projects focusing on the conjugation of proteins with various molecules, including small molecules, peptides, and polymers. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in molecular biology, protein engineering, and biochemistry, with a proven track record of leading complex research projects. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in protein chemistry, bioconjugation techniques, and will be adept at driving projects from conceptualization through to implementation. This role will involve close collaboration with cross-functional teams to develop novel bioconjugation strategies that support the company's goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage projects focused on protein conjugation
• Design and optimize protein conjugation strategies, including linker design
• Establish in-house conjugation, purification, and characterization capabilities.
• Analyze and interpret experimental data, troubleshoot issues, and make strategic recommendations to improve project outcomes.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design controlled experiments, align on handoffs and required materials.
• Stay current with scientific literature and advancements in the field of protein bioconjugation chemistry.
• Create, maintain, and update documents for all aspects of the development process as well as contributing to generating intellectual property

Basic Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field with a focus on protein bioconjugation, or M.S. with substantial industry experience.
• Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant post-graduate experience in protein bioconjugation chemistry, preferably within an industry setting
• Proven expertise in various bioconjugation techniques such as click chemistry, enzymatic conjugation, and site-specific conjugation methods.
• Proficiency in analytical techniques for characterizing protein conjugates, including HPLC, mass spectrometry, SDS-PAGE, and spectroscopy.
• Demonstrated ability to manage and lead complex research projects.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of publications and presentations.

Nice-to-haves

• Extensive knowledge of protein sample prep methodologies
• Experience in bench scale purification using AKTA system is a plus
