Position Summary:
Mirai Bio is actively seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Translational Senior Research Scientist to join our dynamic team developing the next generation of nucleic acid medicines. You will play a critical role in the discovery and development of Mirai’s lipid nanoparticle delivery platform progressing our cellular targeting and cargo encapsulation technologies. The successful application will have the opportunity to work with an experienced and highly collaborative team in a fast-paced cross-functional team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, optimize, execute in vitro, ex vivo and in vivo biological and immunological assays, including characterization of diverse primary cell populations from rodent and human tissues, co-cultures, reporter assays (e.g. cell killing) using methods such as but not limited to multi-color flow cytometry.
- Design and evaluate moieties for targeting LNPs to specific cell types under in vivo delivery.
- Independently analyze own research data, solve problems with minimal guidance and effectively plan follow up experiments.
- Align with stakeholder goals to meet tight timelines and provides direction to research associates/ junior scientists or members of project teams in the initiation and execution of scientific experimentation to collectively achieve team goals.
- Makes contributions to scientific literature through publication and conference attendance.
- Maintain clear and accurate documentations in an electronic lab notebook or other technical reporting format.
- Prepare detailed protocols and SOPs to enable transfer of assays.
Basic Qualifications:
- PhD Degree in a Life Sciences (Cell Biology, Immunology or related) area with a minimum of 5 years of laboratory experience in an academic or industry setting.
- Extensive hands-on experience with maintaining cultures of mammalian cell lines and primary cells.
- Extensive hands-on experience with handling human blood, isolating primary cells from various tissues.
- Extensive hands-on experience with immunological assays (e.g. ELISA, Luminex, cell proliferation, cell killing) and multi-color flow cytometry.
- Experience with protein engineering and design based on natural and synthetic binders.
- Independent thinker, with excellent attention to details; ability to work independently and make critical decisions.
- Eager to work with highly skilled and dynamic teams in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial setting.
- Strong written and oral communication skills. Able to communicate effectively with a multi-disciplinary team.
- Demonstrated ability to follow established policies and to keep accurate, and complete records.
- Ability to routinely handle tissues and biological samples from rodents and human donors.
- Experience with immunofluorescence staining and histology is preferred.
- Experience with lipid nanoparticles formulation is preferred.
- Prior industry working experience is preferred.
