The opportunity:
Flexport is seeking a high-energy team member to join our tax team to assist in the various tax matters, this tax accountant role will be based in Shenzhen, China. This is a crucial role that will assist in overseeing APAC direct and indirect tax compliance, reporting, controversy, tax planning initiatives and tax related process improvement initiatives. Flexport is a high growth, fast-paced, pre-IPO environment. If you like “building” while having fun driving value to the company’s bottom line, this might be the opportunity for you.
You will:
- Facilitate the preparation/completion of various tax filings (VAT, income tax, withholding, etc…) for the APAC region with external service providers
- Responsible for determining and processing any required estimated tax payments
- Assist with preparing the Company’s ASC 740 income tax provisions for the APAC region
- Prepare monthly/quarterly transfer pricing entries to validate that they are in accordance with our intercompany agreements
- Prepare monthly tax related account reconciliations
- Work with the internal Tax team to assist in preparing of key components of US tax returns and any other US tax compliance work
- Assist with different types of tax audits
- Provides tax support where needed on ad hoc projects
You should have:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or in Taxation is preferred
- 3+ years professional tax experience in public accounting firms or multinational companies
- Strong technical and practical knowledge of corporate accounting for income taxes
- Self-starter with high energy and a positive attitude
- Strong willingness to learn new things (i.e. international tax, planning and indirect taxes)
- Ability to identify, research and effectively communicate resolutions on tax issues
- Excellent time management and prioritization skills
