Te Tūranga – About the role
As a Produce Specialist for the North Island, covering the South Auckland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty and Coromandel regions. You’ll identify and realise opportunities, put innovation into practice and achieve retail excellence through great coaching to promote excellence in category performance and deliver growth at store. The produce specialist is a store focused role that delivers category strategy and assists, mentors and trains in-store produce managers to deliver a consistent high-quality of excellence in fresh retailing.
 
To do this you’ll:
·       Utilise financial data as a key tool to identify where the key priorities lie for the category and by store
·       Effectively manage travel and associated bookings to maximise store visit targets and remain in budget
·       Understand your store cluster as a whole and each stores strengths and weaknesses and prioritise visits accordingly
·       Be part of and deliver category, Fresh strategy and projects
·       Be responsible for delivering new store openings and support store refurbishment processes by category
 
There is frequent travel required for this role where you are away from your home base area for days at a time.

He kōrero mōu - About you
Specialist is the key word! To be awesome at this you’ll have had operational success in a hands-on produce or fresh role or will have strong retail or wholesale experience along with a good knowledge of how fresh works. From that you’ll be confident talking to produce retail and will be able to show real examples of where you have worked to make significant change in the business.
 
You’ll also have:
·       Retail Produce operational awareness including managing a produce department or similar business unit
·       A good knowledge of fruit and vegetable varieties, quality, and seasonality
·       Merchandising and category management in produce
·       A good awareness of food trends internationally as well as locally
·       SAP knowledge
·       Financial awareness and ability to put it into use as an effective tool
·       Good working knowledge of current food safety management relating to Produce
