Moms First is a national nonprofit leading the fight for America’s moms. We are driven by our belief that motherhood is the unfinished business of gender equality. Founded by Reshma Saujani in 2021 at the height of the pandemic, our community of moms and supporters is 1.1 million strong and committed to fighting for a world where moms are valued and supported in our workplaces, communities, and culture.

We do this by:
-Organizing the private sector to champion child care as an economic imperative, through their own workplace policies and public policy
-Mobilizing a grassroots community of moms and supporters to take action in their workplaces, communities, and homes
-Changing the narrative about moms: who they are, the value they bring society, and why we must invest in them

The Director of Private Sector Strategy is a newly created role to lead the first plank of our work: organizing the private sector. In the first two years of our work, we’ve:
-Launched the National Business Coalition for Child Care (NBCC) to mobilize more than 250 companies, reaching over half a million employees through access to new or expanded care benefits.
-Released a first-of-its-kind report with Boston Consulting Group, Child Care: The Employee Benefit That Pays for Itself, highlighting a return on investment up to 425% when companies invest in child care benefits.
-Led intimate roundtable discussions bringing together C-suite leaders of major employers, like UPS, Intel, Morgan Stanley, and the Gap, with Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo and the White House Council of Economic Advisors to inform opportunities for public-private partnership to solve the child care crisis

Moms First is now at a critical inflection point, and we are looking for a leader to develop and direct the next phase of our strategy to accelerate the work we’ve done with companies and translate it into robust public policy momentum.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned professional with experience in corporate social impact, strategy development, and advocacy/lobbying.

The Moms First team is remote, with a hybrid work option for New York City based team members. This role may be performed virtually. Based on the specific responsibilities of this role we are seeking candidates in the Washington DC area, however candidates in other locations must be willing to travel and be based near a major airport with direct flights to NY, DC, and LA.
