An overview of this role
The lifecycle marketing manager is responsible for strategizing, executing, and optimizing a data-driven lifecycle communications strategy. This role collaborates with the Campaigns, Marketing Ops, and Data teams to plan and prioritize communications that engage GitLab prospects and guide them through the buyer lifecycle. They will focus on leveraging data-driven insights, fostering cross-team collaboration, and implementing continuous testing to drive conversions and revenue growth.
What You’ll Do
- Create, monitor, and improve complex automated campaign journeys and triggers with static and dynamic content to help educate and motivate our prospective customers across their lead to MQL journey
- Lead the creation and implementation of email marketing campaigns from conception through execution, including planning, copywriting, segmentation, testing, and launching with a focus on personalization and performance optimization
- In collaboration across marketing, develop a communication plan to leverage upcoming opportunities to engage with GitLab (including live events, webcasts, workshops, etc.)
- Collaborate with marketing operations, data analytics, product marketing, campaigns, content marketing, and regional teams to create cohesive messaging across different channels
- Use data-driven insights to review and refine campaigns, supporting decisions with clear data analysis and regularly communicate/act on performance insights
- Act as an email marketing SME: ‘Speak’ (live and breathe) email and help the team learn how to incorporate best practices into all planning, decisions and execution – from creative to segmentation to deliverability
What You’ll Bring
- 3-4+ years experience in email marketing, preferably at an enterprise SaaS technology company
- Cutting–edge email marketing best practices, along with strong copywriting and copy editing skills
- Expertise in Marketo for marketing automation, both in audience segmentation (smartlists) and in the use of email templates, Marketo modules, and dynamic content
- Strong internal communication and cross-functional coordination skills
- Extremely detail-oriented and organized, able to manage multiple projects to meet deadlines.
- Experience with building complex nurture programs, running A/B tests and experimentation.
Nice to haves
- Experience marketing specifically to enterprise IT buyer and software developer customer personas at a product led growth company
- Experience with HTML and CSS for email design
- Experience working with teams in different regions and localizing for different markets
- Familiarity with other (non-Marketo) marketing automation tools such as Iterable
- Basic proficiency with design tools for image cropping and editing

The base salary range for this role’s listed level is currently for residents of listed locations only. Grade level and salary ranges are determined through interviews and a review of education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities of the applicant, equity with other team members, and alignment with market data. See more information on our benefits and equity. Sales roles are also eligible for incentive pay targeted at up to 100% of the offered base salary.
