Symmetry Software is part of Gusto. Symmetry is the payroll infrastructure for software & payroll platforms powering the paychecks of over 64 million workers each year. Our fully integrated suite of payroll tax APIs and software tools allows companies to solve tax compliance issues and build applications across the entirety of the payroll process.

About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated Full Stack Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience in full stack development and demonstrate proficiency with AWS services, Spring/Java, and Angular. A primary emphasis of this role is placed on unit testing and code coverage to ensure the reliability and quality of our software products. Additionally, the successful candidate will showcase strong documentation skills to ensure clear communication within the team and facilitate seamless project collaboration. Our team consists of 25 engineers, each bringing their own skills and experiences to the table. With a few engineers handling each product, we work closely together to drive success and achieve our goals. Here’s what you’ll do day-to-day:

  • Work at various parts of the stack (client side, server side, and cloud services)
  • Collaborate with our product management and design teams to understand customer pain points, come up with solutions, and then prototype, iterate, and launch daily
  • Build a product that our customers genuinely love

Here’s what we're looking for:

  • 3-5+ years of full stack experience
  • Experience with Angular or React
  • Experience to backend development - Spring boot
  • Experience working with AWS components and services
  • SQL and fundamentals of relational database design (MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a fast-paced team environment
  • Strong work ethic supported by solid time-management skills
  • Passionate about creating memorable experiences for customers
  • Interest in complex product development problems
  • Appreciation for a collaborative, test-driven environment
  • Experience turning wireframes and mockups into elegantly executed code
  • Well-structured, easily maintainable, well-documented code that balances beauty and pragmatism

Our cash compensation amount for this role is targeted at $131,000/yr to $163,000/yr in Scottsdale & most major metro locations. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise and may vary from the amounts listed above

 


Gusto has physical office spaces in Denver, San Francisco, and New York City. Employees who are based in those locations will be expected to work from the office on designated days approximately 2-3 days per week (or more depending on role). The same office expectations apply to all Symmetry roles, Gusto's subsidiary, whose physical office is in Scottsdale.

Note: The San Francisco office expectations encompass both the San Francisco and San Jose metro areas. 

When approved to work from a location other than a Gusto office, a secure, reliable, and consistent internet connection is required.
