Studio Cook

HelloFresh is in search of a full-time Studio Cook to join our in-house studio team in Brooklyn, NY. Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Kitchen the candidate will work closely with our Studio Operations team to create exceptional food photography. The candidate should be passionate about food photography, cooking, and have experience in an in-house production workflow. The right candidate will be comfortable mise, prep, cooking, and assisting with both regular, recurring production projects as well as large campaigns with speed and efficiency, always resulting in beautiful imagery. The ability to multitask while maintaining attention to detail is essential to success in this role. 

You will...... 

  • Plan, prep & cook dishes for weekly menu photography, marketing, video and social  campaigns 
  • Deliver beautiful and appetizing food while maintaining culinary accuracy and fidelity to brand guidelines
  • Partner with Senior Kitchen Manager and the rest of the team to identify a shooting workflow that fosters productivity, efficiency and collaboration between cooking and styling ensuring timely execution of all shoot requirements. 
  • Collaborate closely with all studio functions (styling, photo, production), as well as cross-functional partners (culinary, product, editorial)
  • Master all specific brand specific guidelines and cooking techniques, become an expert on all SKUs within our portfolio 
  • Proactively assess current kitchen processes and partner with Sr. Manager, Kitchen to come up with solutions to increase efficiency 
  • Collaborate with team on weekly ingredient lists, ensuring that all orders placed minimize waste (food & monetary) and improve overall efficiency 
  • Assist with procuring non-SKU food items required; as well as communicate desired quality or look of food items needed for desired aesthetic look 
  • Share responsibility for care, upkeep and maintenance of kitchen space, studio space, and equipment
  • Work closely with styling and photography team to meet ambitious shot lists
  • Quality check kitchen staff work output while keeping your output high quality 
  • Maintain upkeep of kitchen equipment, supplies, and cleanliness
  • Maintain proper safe food handling practices, organization of refrigerators and dry storage, and par stocks
  • Work with our kitchen team to produce recipe trays according to kit specifications for recipe cards, assist in prep for Innovation and Social shoots, and jump on the line when needed to fire recipes for sets
  • Assist in making shopping lists, ordering requests, procurement of ingredients to exacting specifications, taking inventory, and other miscellaneous administrative tasks 

You have....... 

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Culinary Arts or equivalent experience
  • Experience: 1-3 years cooking experience required, either on-set or in a restaurant
  • Skills: 
    • Impeccable cooking techniques that allow you able to move nimbly between different brand aesthetics based on guidelines
    • Outstanding aesthetic judgment and knowledge of food properties and preparation related to styling needs on site. 
    • Familiarity with sources and purveyors of groceries and ingredients from the mundane to hard to find niche products. 
    • Accurate knife skills and a working knowledge of the difference between techniques
    • Proficient in Google Suite
