This is a full-time position based in our Denver, CO office. (We have a hybrid work model in place that allows employees to split their time between working in-office and from home a few days a week.) We also offer full-time remote (with quarterly visits to Denver) for folks based outside of the Denver area.
Compensation: We are committed to providing competitive pay and benefits that are in line with industry standards. We analyze and carefully consider several factors when determining compensation, including skills, qualifications and professional experience, which can cause your compensation to vary. This role has an annual targeted base salary range of $145,000 - $175,000, plus an annual 10% performance bonus target.

The impact you’ll make by joining us:
Within 1 month you will:
- Understand the responsibilities of and interactions between our core services
- Pair with other engineers on your team to ship new features & refinements
- Connect with folks from all across the Homebot organization
Within 3 months you will:
- Ship pre-defined features / refinements from our roadmap
- Join our on-call rotation (our systems are incredibly stable, so this is light duty)
Within 6 months you will:
- Contribute significantly to breaking down technical challenges and planning sprints with your team
- Take on loosely-defined / exploratory work in new-to-you areas of the codebase
- Confidently troubleshoot & analyze root cause of technical issues within the systems your team owns
Within 1 year you will:
- Define, plan, and execute on opportunities for technical features & refinements
- Investigate new tools & technologies, and evaluate their usefulness to your team’s systems & processes
- Contribute to knowledge sharing workshops on topics of interest for the R&D team (engineering / product / design)
Who You’ll Collaborate With:
- This role will report to your team’s Engineering Manager
- You will work closely with product managers, integration managers, and adjacent engineering teams
- You will be part of 5 engineers on your team
What You Bring:
- 5+ years of production engineering experience
- Familiarity with concepts from Clean Code, SOLID principles, or similar
- 4-5+ years experience with Ruby on Rails
- 4+ years building scalable APIs
- Strong Postgres or other database experience
- Experience with Sidekiq, redis, memcache, Elasticsearch or similar
- Experience in scaling applications with a commitment to ensuring maintainability
- Ability to respond to situations in a timely manner, and meet personal commitments
- Comfortable RSpec or similar testing frameworks and understand solid testing principles.
Bonus Points:
- Experience with AWS Lambda, DynamoDB, or serverless frameworks like Ruby on Jets
- Experience diagnosing and mitigating email-deliverability concerns (including proactive reputation-management steps)
- Familiarity with SMTP, and the points of articulation between the outbound server and the recipient’s inbox
- You are familiar with Real Estate and/or Mortgage Lending and the different stakeholders involved with homeownership
