Job Summary:

As a Senior Controls Engineer for JMA Wireless, you will be hands on and work with a multi discipline team to commission new equipment and support existing equipment. The senior controls engineer will be assigned larger projects and will be required to delegate some of the tasks to other engineers or outside resources to complete these projects in the time allotted. 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain PLC programming (Logix5000 & Logix500). Standard and Safety logic.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain HMI interfaces (FactoryTalk & Ignition)
  • Develop, implement, and maintain Robot programs (FANUC, UR)
  • Develop, and maintain electrical drawings (SolidWorks Electrical)
  • Develop sequence of operations for equipment programs.
  • Work with design team to create Risk assessments/FMEAs and develop control circuits/programs to mitigate documented risks.
  • Lead technicians during the electrical/mechanical build of equipment
  • Work with design team for development of new equipment, or upgrades to existing equipment.
  • Work with outside vendors to provide support services to supplement internal design capabilities.
  • Delegate larger project tasks to engineers and outside vendors assigned to the project to complete projects in proposed timeline.
  • Review delegated tasks to engineers and outside vendors for completeness.
  • Coordinating with Maintenance or vendors for the installation, repair, upgrade, or removal of equipment to minimize impact to production.
  • Anticipating and solving equipment problems in a timely manner.
  • Assisting in the identification of new process, new equipment, and equipment suppliers.
  • Manage and prioritize operations requests for equipment improvements.
  • Provide expert level support to engineers, and technicians in investigation and troubleshooting line down situations.
  • Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree (Electrical, Computer, or Mechanical) or related engineering field, with 5-plus years of relevant experience in industrial automation.
  • OR Associate degree (Electrical, Computer, or Mechanical) or related engineering field, with 10-plus years of relevant experience in industrial automation.
  • Excellent judgment and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills are required.
  • Excellent technical writing skills and process understanding
  • Ability to be strongly tactical while driving a clear improvement strategy.
  • Strong preference given to candidates with industrial automation background.
  • Project management capability (short and long term) and self-direction of assigned projects is critical.
  • Desire to learn new technologies and concepts.
  • FANUC Robot experience is a plus.
  • Ignition development experience is a plus.
  • Python programming experience is a plus.
