About Lincoln’s Capital Advisory Group (“CAG”):
Lincoln’s Capital Advisory team is a leading arranger of financing in the middle market, advising on a wide range of transactions, including acquisition financings for new platforms and add-ons, refinancings, dividend recaps, amendments and restructurings.
Much like a traditional M&A process, a capital advisory process involves in-depth industry and company research, identifying potential interested parties, preparing marketing materials and overseeing the diligence and negotiation process to arrive at a final agreement. While both processes are designed to facilitate successful transactions, our capital advisory engagements often move at a faster pace and can be more intricate, requiring the navigation of multiple potential solutions and variations. Additionally, we work with a broader range of investors, including those focused on lending, growth equity and distressed assets, which demand more nuanced messaging tailored to the specific needs of each audience.
Why CAG:
As a summer analyst on the Capital Advisory team, you’ll benefit from the following opportunities:
- Extensive, hands-on deal experience: Our team of ~50 individuals closed 30 deals last year and has over 40 active and closed deals year-to-date. With our faster-paced processes in comparison to a traditional sell-side / buy-side process, you’ll gain more deal experience in less time while benefitting from collaborating across different industry groups. The group’s industry-agnostic nature will allow you to work with a diverse range of niche businesses, broadening your exposure across various sectors of interest.
- Deeper exposure to private equity, private capital markets and leveraged finance: We work closely with private equity firms and interact with a wide array of capital providers, including commercial banks, private credit funds, mezzanine lenders and institutional investors. This will give you a deeper understanding of the full spectrum of private capital markets and how different capital structures can be leveraged.
- Highly technical and strategic experience at the analyst level: You’ll develop a deeper understanding of the strategic use of debt in financial transactions. In our processes, you will play a key role in creating comprehensive three-statement financial models and conducting detailed analyses to illustrate the necessity and benefits of financing opportunities. While these analyses are typically led by our full-time analysts, you will have the chance to participate and learn, providing a pathway to potentially returning for a full-time role. This experience will sharpen your ability to align financial data with a strategic narrative, all while collaborating closely with a senior team that has extensive expertise in leveraged finance, direct lending and investment banking within a highly supportive environment.
No prior experience or knowledge of private capital markets or M&A is necessary — just a curiosity and a willingness to learn.
