About the team: 

The Data community at Luno, comprising Data Engineers, Scientists, and Analysts, uncovers valuable insights from the vast amounts of data we gather from our customers and platform. These insights are crucial for guiding our product development and business strategy.

As a Product Data Scientist joining Luno, you would be part of the Product Analytics team providing high quality insights into our product through experimentation and advanced analytics.

Our current technology stack includes Databricks, Looker, Amplitude and mParticle.

The role in a nutshell:

As we accelerate on our mission to put crypto in everyone’s hands, your role is to use data and insights to drive better product decisions and influence the Luno product strategy. This will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to find, size, prioritise, evaluate and iterate on problems and opportunities to enhance our product.

Your mission will be:

  • Partner with cross-functional product teams including Product Managers, Designers and Engineers to provide product analytics for data-informed decisions.
  • Empower product teams with the data, tools and skills required to prioritise initiatives and shape the product roadmap.
  • Design and implement event tracking data to unlock actionable insights.
  • Define, understand, and test opportunities and levers to improve the product through insights and recommendations.
  • Support product teams in the design, implementation and evaluation of A/B tests to facilitate a culture of continuous learning and experimentation.
  • Apply analytical techniques such as segmentation, funnel and cohort analysis to deeply understand customer behaviours and journeys.
  • Use data and analytics to inform, influence and execute the product strategy.

The ideal Lunaut will have:

  • 3+ years of experience in the data field.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in the natural sciences or technical fields such as Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or Economics.
  • Experience working with cross-functional product teams using data to influence strategy, roadmaps and drive data-informed decisions.
  • Demonstrable experience in designing and analysing experiments (A/B tests).
  • Hands-on experience analysing events data.
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases.
  • Experience with data visualisation tools such as Looker, Tableau or similar.
  • Proficiency in statistical programming languages such as Python.
  • Ability to explain data and statistical concepts to non-experts in a clear, and structured manner.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as within and across multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Adaptable and capable of working in fast-paced environments.
  • Great analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Enthusiasm to work in the crypto industry.

  • Experience working with product analytics tools such as mParticle and Amplitude.
  • Experience designing and implementing event tracking plans.
  • Exposure to customer behaviour analytics to drive strategic decisions regarding acquisition, churn, retention, and lifetime value.
