In this role, you will have the opportunity to work externally and across all areas of the company to advise on and implement our compliance objectives. This role reports to the Director of Regulatory Compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively with regulators to determine relevant requirements, and negotiate and advocate for favorable interpretations and adoption of rules that benefit Lyft and its customers
- Research and advise on regulatory compliance issues that impact Lyft’s Operations, Marketing, Finance and Product teams
- Communicate regulatory compliance requirements and offer guidance to other teams including Communications, Product, Public Policy, Customer Support, and other teams within the Legal Department
- Evaluate Lyft product initiatives to ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory requirements
- Gather and synthesize data relating to Lyft’s compliance requirements.
Experience:
- J.D. from a top-tier law school
- Admitted to the New York or California Bar in good standing or eligible to register as In-House Counsel
- 5-8 years of experience working as an attorney, with experience working in-house, with a government agency, or at a law firm advising technology companies as outside counsel
- Excellent problem-solving capabilities, judgment, communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
- Ability to think both tactically and strategically
- Ability to set priorities and respond to changing demands from multiple internal and external sources under demanding deadlines
- Experience working in regulation of transportation or with federal contracting preferred but not required.
