As a Policy Senior Specialist, you will assist in the development and implementation of platform safety policies that uphold our commitment to a safe and reliable community.

Lyft is seeking a Policy Specialist to join our Safety and Customer Cares team based in CDMX. In this role, you will support the Safety Operations team by contributing to the creation, updating, and maintenance of policies that our customer-facing Safety teams use when reviewing and responding to safety incidents on the platform. This position focuses on policy development and provides an opportunity to grow within the team, without the responsibilities of people management

Responsibilities:

Policy Development and Implementation: 

  • Assist in the development and implementation of Lyft's Trust & Safety policies, with a focus on areas such as rider and driver safety, community guidelines, and incident response protocols.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams including Legal, Product, Public Policy, Risk, and Communications, to support policy alignment and operational effectiveness.
  • Support efforts to ensure Lyft's Trust & Safety policies are trauma informed.

Stakeholder Engagement and Advocacy:

  • Building and maintaining relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners, such as industry associations, government agencies, and community organizations.
  • Participate in regulatory and policy discussions, and help gather information on industry standards and best practices.

People Management & Leadership

  • Support in the development and implementation of safety policies at Lyft, supporting the team in setting success criteria and deliverables.
  • Contribute to the application of industry best practices for policy development in on- and offline marketplaces at Lyft, and support change management efforts to foster cross-functional collaboration.

Risk Assessment and Mitigation:

  • Assist in research and analysis to identify safety trends and risks, supporting the integration of data-driven insights into policy creation.
  • Support the assessment of risks to Lyft's platform and users, contributing to the development of strategies to mitigate potential harm and enhance safety measures.
  • Stay informed about industry developments and regulatory changes related to trust and safety, providing updates to the team on potential impacts and necessary adaptations.

Communication and Reporting:

    • Communicate policy updates and enforcement actions to team members and relevant stakeholders.
    • Prepare reports on policy impact, performance metrics, and incident trends to aid in strategic decision-making.

Experience:

  • 3–5 years of experience in Policy Development, or a related role within a technology, marketplace, transportation, or regulatory environment.
  • Understanding of policy development and implementation, with a foundational knowledge of safety principles and risk management.
  • Good analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and metrics to support decision-making.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with some experience in stakeholder engagement.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines.
  • Strong written communication skills, presentation skills, and the ability to convey written information in multiple formats 
  • Advanced English level (written and speaking)

This role will be in-office on a hybrid schedule if an established Lyft Location is available to the Mexico City region — Hybrid Team Members will be expected to work in the office 3 days per week on Mondays, Thursdays and a team-specific third day. Additionally, hybrid roles have the flexibility to work from anywhere for up to 4 weeks per year.
