We are looking for engineers with a passion for building platforms that empower product teams to iterate fast. You'll collaborate with engineering, product, data science, analytics, and operations on programs that empower us to iterate quickly, delighting our passengers and drivers.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership and direction to the team, helping define the team’s roadmap, architecture, processes, and best practices
  • Write well-crafted, well-tested, readable, maintainable code. Leave the code in a better state than when you found it (progressive refactoring).
  • Perform thoughtful code reviews for colleagues to ensure code quality and distribute knowledge.
  • Unblock, support and effectively communicate cross functionally in order to achieve results.
  • Evangelize appropriate tech and engineering best practices, and occasionally give internal or external tech talks.
  • Act as a mentor to other developers on the team.
  • Participate in hiring activities: take part in technical interviews, live coding, share detailed feedback to hiring best technical talent in the function.

Experience:

  • Must have 6+ years of software engineering industry experience
  • Advanced knowledge of JavaScript, CSS, and HTML
  • Experience in distributed systems
  • Experience working with modern JavaScript frameworks, like React
  • Experience working with NodeJS and Express applications
  • Experience working with design systems (e.g. Bootstrap, Salesforce Lightning, GitHub Primer)
  • Experience with unit, integration, and end-to-end testing
  • Experience working cross-functionally with Product and Design
  • Good understanding of web performance and how browsers and DOM work
  • Experience working with Twilio Flex is not a must but a plus!
  • Experience with object-oriented programming
  • Experience working with databases, relational or NoSQL
  • Write clear, scalable and clear design documentation
  • Design, build and improve a set of team owned components

This role will be in-office on a hybrid schedule — Team Members will be expected to work in the office 3 days per week on Mondays, Thursdays and a team-specific third day. Additionally, hybrid roles have the flexibility to work from anywhere for up to 4 weeks per year. #Hybrid

The expected base pay range for this position in the San Francisco area is $172,000-$237,000. Salary ranges are dependent on a variety of factors, including qualifications, experience and geographic location. Range is not inclusive of potential equity offering, bonus or benefits.
