Major League Baseball is seeking a seasoned Director to join the Club Strategy group at MLB, which is a part of MLB’s Strategy & Development group, a centralized resource within Baseball’s Office of the Commissioner that works cross-functionally to develop and execute strategies to grow baseball globally.

This position will be a key liaison between the MLB League office and MLB Clubs, leveraging data and strategic insights to drive revenue, fan engagement, and operational excellence across all 30 Clubs. The CBOS Director will work cross-functionally with Product, Ticketing, Technology, Finance, Marketing, and Sponsorship to serve as an active voice for Clubs in shaping and operationalizing League-wide strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate is not only capable of interpreting data but can also synthesize information from multiple sources, identify scalable solutions and best practices, prioritize, and communicate with a wide variety of audiences. This role requires managerial experience, strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills, the ability to own projects from inception to execution, and an entrepreneurial mindset.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead Club benchmarking efforts that explore and evaluate strategies and tactics across fan development, revenue, and operational excellence
  • Perform detailed quantitative (e.g., market analyses, consumer trends) and qualitative (e.g., case studies) analyses and develop actionable recommendations for MLB Clubs to drive revenue growth and fan engagement
  • Develop analytical approaches to transform complex data into thoughtful, actionable, and scalable insights for all Clubs
  • Build strong relationships and collaborate with team members and executives across multiple functions at both the League and Clubs (e.g., Ticketing, Sponsorship, Marketing) to identify high-potential opportunities, source data/resources, and align plans
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, to a broad range of audiences at the League and at Clubs, including senior executives
  • Manage, train, and actively develop a team of Analysts and Managers
  • Assist with planning and executing CBOS-led workshops and League-wide meetings

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with strong record of academic achievement; MBA preferred
  • 7 – 10 years of experience in Consulting, Finance, Strategy, or related field  
  • Experience in Sports (ideally Team or League) and/or Media & Entertainment a plus
  • Superior critical thinking, analytical, communication (written and verbal), and presentation skills 
  • Exceptional data evaluation skills with the ability to interpret information from various sources and offer creative, practical, actionable insights 
  • Ability to work cross-functionally, prioritize, multi-task, and manage major projects, often in an ambiguous environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to interact effectively with all levels of an organization 
  • Experience developing and mentoring junior team members
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Equal level of comfort driving analyses or receiving direction, leading or contributing as appropriate, driving conversations or supporting as necessary

Pay Range: $160,000 - $200,000

As a candidate for this position, your salary and related aspects of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, skills, and any other factors MLB considers relevant to the hiring decision.
