Support and assist the Executive Director and manage numerous activities pertaining to the operation and goals of the Baseball Assistance Team. Work independently on the review, input and output of the monthly grant process. Oversee and manage the growth of B.A.T. 's international applicant base in addition to fundraising and networking opportunities with the Spanish speaking Player constituency. 

Responsibilities:

  • Serves as proxy in the absence of the Executive Director and the Director
  • Hire and manage a team of up to 5-10 B.A.T. Case Workers (Non-Exempt) and assist the Executive Director with the hiring process of all Full-Time and Special Project employees.
  • Administer training and take ownership of learning and development of all caseworkers/volunteers. Delegate cases and answer their questions.
  • Manage all aspects of pre-award preparation and post-award grant management and adjust department plans and priorities to address operational changes.
  • Manage and direct the B.A.T. Dominican Republic consultants (3) and Puerto Rico consultants (2) pertaining to the operation and goals of B.A.T.  Travel to Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic twice per year to evaluate the care of potential applicants, oversee awareness presentations and the resources available to them.
  • Actively participate in Grant, Crisis and Scholarship Committee meetings.
  • Oversee all of B.A.T.’s Spanish marketing material which includes the content, distribution and production of the website, social media accounts, newsletters, email blasts and printed collateral.
  • Oversee the B.A.T. Senior Coordinator and Financial Assistant with B.A.T.’s annual grant payments, which are in excess of over $3 million dollars per year. Monitor the interactions between the B.A.T. applicants and consultants with the B.A.T. Senior Coordinator and Financial Assistant. Also review/approve all invoices submitted.
  • Manage and oversee the integration of the B.A.T. Trackvia portal in Spanish for the grants, scholarship and crisis cases. Attend training sessions and meetings to be able to make edits, changes and modifications to the system.
  • Manage the organizational strategies regarding applicant growth in the Caribbean, Central America, South America and Europe. Research and communicate immigration policies across the globe to B.A.T. staff, consultants and board.
  • Attend and participate with MLB club stadium visits at Citi Field and Yankee Stadium.
  • Serve as a Spanish translator for the Executive Director.
  • Lead one of two teams during the annual B.A.T. Spring Training Fundraising Tour by speaking with the 30 MLB clubs in Arizona and Florida. In addition, also attend and present at MLB club front office presentations.
  • Manage the international grant applicant document submission process and evaluation. Work directly with MLB Investigations regarding any fraudulent documentation to ensure proper use of grant funds.
  • Oversee the disbursement of medical grants in the Dominican Republic, in coordination with the Dominican Republic consultant.
  • Responsible for communication to applicants after a decision has been made by the B.A.T. board.
  • Works directly with the MLB Legal department on contractual agreements pertaining to partnerships and grant disbursement.
  • Oversee board relations with Latino board members pertaining to B.A.T.’s international efforts.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bi-lingual (Spanish, English) required
  • 6-8 years’ relevant business experience.
  • Strong organizational, oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Non-profit event & grant management preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required.

Pay Range: $70,000 - $100,000

As a candidate for this position, your salary and related aspects of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, skills, and any other factors MLB considers relevant to the hiring decision.
